I'm always learning new things about these fascinating deities. I especially enjoyed learning about the different Muses and their areas of expertise. It's amazing to think that these figures were so important to the ancient Greeks and that their influence continues to be felt today. Apollo is definitely the reason the Nine Muses aren't virgins. He slept with all nine, and fathered children on at least half of them 🤣

The Nine Muses are the reason why Apollo swore never to marry, because he loved his Muses so much, he wanted to marry all nine, because he couldn't choose between them, but he wasn't allowed to marry all of them, so he swore he'd never marry at all if he couldn't have his Muses.

Apollo did want to marry at least two other times: to his Aunt, Hestia (but, Poseidon also wanted her hand in marriage, so to stop any conflicts between her brother and nephew, Hestia made a vow to Zeus to remain a Maiden Goddess forever). And the other girl he wanted to marry was the mortal Princess, Marpessa, but she choose the mortal man, Idas, instead. She got away without Apollo punishing her, because she told him he'd lose interest in her when she got older.
