Here in Texas it’s often hard to tell what season we’re in… winter? spring? 🤷🏻‍♀️ No matter, we can still be in tune with whatever season it seems to be. Slow down and rest when it’s cold and dark. ☕️😴 Step outside more often when it’s warm and sunny. 🚶🏼‍♀️☀️

What can we do when we find ourselves low at this time of year? I think it helps us to be kind to ourselves when we notice shifts in energy and mood as the weather changes. We watch animals go into hibernation, trees shedding their leaves and breaking down their chlorophyll, yet we don’t allow ourselves a chance to rest and go inwards as season’s change…

We are now in a society always lit with low level artificial light, and screens that flicker and tell us how busy we are. We have lost our instinct for darkness, and its invitation for us to spend time being more gentle with ourselves, settling down for earlier nights and slower days.

If we notice changes in mood and sleep due to these seasonal changes, using targeted light therapy in a way that benefits us by improving circadian rhythms (and also thereby improving mood and energy levels) can really help, as well as focussing on good nutrition, exercise and sleep.
