Exploring Barnes & Noble tech book selection || Eloquent JavaScript, O'Reilly SQL, Python

About 8 months ago I did a video capturing my Barnes and Noble tech section. While the selection was fair, there were still a lot missing. Fast forward to 2019 and things have really changed. The section is now completely DOMINATED by Python and has some great new books geared towards kids, teens, and those interested in game development.

Unlike online video courses and other online materials, you can't just add a section to a physical book when the tech changes and not charge for it. . .You have to release (and sell) another book. When it comes to web development, it's hard for authors of physical books to keep up with this tempo. This is frustrating for everybody, but somehow B&N and its authors they stock on their shelves are mostly keeping up with the pace!

This is great progress. Shoutout to Barnes & Noble for keeping things relevant!

The past year I’ve been checking out lots of bookstores’ tech sections, even Harvard’s! I have to say though, the newest shipment over at my favorite Barnes and Noble really is a cut above. What are you all seeing at your local stores? Anything good?

Hi RTC, good video unfortunetly the rents got out of hand here that no more Barnes and Noble... I used to be hooked to book stores especially the old books but Amazon killed them... Keep up the good work Chiquito...

I go to B&N when I'm in the city before interviews and I've seen a lot of Python books lately. I'll have to go back there and see what else they have when I go back.
