Girlfriend travels from the UK to Zimbabwe to surprise boyfriend for Leavers Ball. Elodie Commissaris, 19, flew 30 hours from her home in the UK to surprise her boyfriend, Jack Yalias, 18, at his Leavers Ball in Zimbabwe. Elodie moved to Zimbabwe in 2019 where she met Jack and they both fell in love. Elodie told Jack that she couldn’t make it to the ball due to an expedition in England. She turned all her location settings off her phone to make sure the surprise wouldn’t be ruined. Originally posting the videos to show family and friends, Elodie had no idea it would blow up. It has now reached over six million views. Elodie added: “Jack’s sister went to dance classes with me and Jack would come watch the dance shows and see me and his sister. Eventually, we started talking and messaging and started dating in November 2019. “My best friends came to pick me up from the airport and I stayed with them the night before. I got ready for the Ball with my friends and bought a dress in advance. On the plane journey, I turned off my location on all social media (Life 360, Snapchat, Find my iPhone) and claimed not to have wifi on the Duke of Edinburgh camp. Jack had no idea!”
