In this PIDE's eye-opening seminar, Dr. Miftah Ismail, former Minister of Finance and esteemed political economist, delves into the pressing issues gripping Pakistan's energy sector, economy, and social landscape. Dr. Ismail provides a candid analysis of the country's Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and their impact on the national economy, unraveling how misaligned energy policies contribute to an ongoing economic vortex. He explores the education system's critical flaws, highlighting the alarming rate of out-of-school children and how this educational neglect threatens Pakistan’s future workforce and economic prospects.

Dr. Miftah Ismail paints a stark picture of the country's current economic crisis, dissecting the complex layers of poverty, fiscal mismanagement, and political instability that have brought Pakistan to a critical juncture. He discusses how economic decisions, or the lack thereof, exacerbate poverty levels and widen socio-economic divides. Addressing the political issues, Dr. Ismail critiques the current policy environment, providing insights into how political dysfunction continues to hinder economic progress and social welfare.

Looking ahead, Dr. Ismail outlines bold future plans and potential solutions, proposing reforms that could revitalize Pakistan’s struggling economy, overhaul its energy sector, and provide educational opportunities for all. His talk is a must-watch for anyone interested in understanding the deep-rooted challenges facing Pakistan today and the path forward toward sustainable development and prosperity. Join this powerful session for a comprehensive look at how we can navigate out of this crisis and build a stronger, more resilient Pakistan.

Pakistan is lucky to have a friendly country like China. China has given billions of dollars in exchange for Pakistani land in Gwadar and POK. This has helped the military generals to retire comfortably in Western countries. China also protects Pakistani people by placing their army inside Pakistan. The hatred of India has helped Pakistan to develop a thriving terrorist industry. Pakistan has also exports them to foreign countries. The famous Pakistani newspaper Dawn recently reported that Pakistan earns billions of dollars by its people begging abroad. Pakistani people love their military generals and politicians.

The biggest cause of most Pakistani problems - Punjabis .
Pakistan would go nowhere till it allows Punjabis to control the levers of the Govt.

I am amazed at the ignorance of even the so called intellectuals of Pakistan. Satya Nadella of Microsoft is not from IIT but from B.I.T.S Pilani!!!!another excellent institute... India not only built IITs but many such institutes....

Thank you Mr Jinnah!

You did a great service for Bharat and we would have given you the highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratan’ only if had you taken your entire lot, as you firmly believe that “we are two different people, culture and race”!

Simón Bolívar, who said "He who serves a revolution ploughs the sea, " meaning that efforts to bring about significant change in South America were futile and likely to be washed away, just as plowing in water would produce no results; highlighting his disillusionment with the political instability and chaos following the region's independence struggles.

Substitute Pakistan for South America...

First 35 minutes is an executive summary for 3 decades of Pakistans energy policy.

No gas in December and January is a decision upholding the spirit of and in the footsteps of Mohammed Bin Tughlaq.😅

1. Education
2. Local governance and
3. Market led pricing of goods, services and importantly USD.

are points suggested as a way forward by the speaker.

India has at least hundred engineering colleges which are almost as good IITs. FYI almost no one from ISRO is from IITs. It is basically study culture and overall environment. Many people might take offense but Islam has done no good to Pakistan except stunting people mind.

Matters related to the disconnection of gas for captive power have been in talks since 2021. The transition towards solar along with national grid power is the only viable option as providing gas for captive power is unsustainable due to its rapid depletion.

Overall discssion was useful and we also support u and Shahid Saab, but we also feel bad when we see that u took 30 years to understand that ur approach is not same as PMLN or vice versa.

Sir, Pakistan has only one issue.
The Pakistan Army with nuclear arsenal. An umbrella which has become a cage.
