Reason for engine failure was salt water contamination at the departure airport. The filtration system became overwhelmed and allowed the absorbing material to be distributed into the fuel. The absorbing material clogged the metering valves to the turbine engines and seized the fuel flow into an "all-or-none" state.

This aircraft on CX780 was B-HLL (MSN 244), an A330-342 with RR Trent 772-60 engines. It was leased from July 2011 onwards. It spent the rest of her life with its sister airline Cathay Dragon after it was repaired. It was withdrawn in August 2020 and left to the US in October 2020. It was scrapped in November 2021. Delivered in November 1998, it was 23 years old at the end of its life. There was also another incident in 2016 when it was operating KA691 while leaving Hong Kong to Penang. Seats were also adjusted to accommodate the new interior.

On 12 November 1996, Saudia Flight 763, a Boeing 747 en route from Delhi, India, to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907, an Ilyushin Il-76 en route from Chimkent, Kazakhstan, to Delhi, collided over the village of Charkhi Dadri, around 100 km (62 mi; 54 nmi) west of Delhi. The crash killed all 349 people on board both planes, making it the world's deadliest mid-air collision and the deadliest aviation accident to occur in India. The crash was caused by failure of the Kazakh crew to maintain the correct altitude, because of confused dialogue with the tower communicated via the radio operator. You should do this story

When seeing this, we really need to appreciate pilots. They have to learn for so long and if an emergency happenes, the passengers safety is their first priority. Respect to all pilots
