McEnroe was pure original entertainment, everybody was hanging out for him to just lose it and listen to whatever outrageous thing he had to say .

McEnroe is a fantastic sports commentator! I love his dialogue and his positive attitude and comments about up and coming tennis players.

McEnroe might not be the GOAT, but he'll always be my favorite of all times. Great player with a great attitude. The snobs never liked him though.

McEnroe has become more likable in his retirement from tennis, but way back when as one of the top players in the game, he was really an insufferable brat who all too often made a mockery of the sport & of the dignity exhibited by players such as Arthur Ashe & Bjorn Borg, & Roger Federer in more recent times. Showing one's displeaure about a missed call by an official is understandable for sure, but whining & losing one's cool as Mac did all too often (as did the likes of Jimmy Connors & Ilie "Nasty" Nastase) really cheapens the game...

I’d love to see McEnroe, Bobby Knight, Tonya Harding, Mike Ditka, and Christian Bale all in the same room together.

Man I hate when talk show hosts, or people in general act like they know a sport really well when they actually know nothing at all.

John McEnroe made a complete fool of himself during his entire tennis career! The is no point arguing with the empire or the linesman. Seeing John play wasn't a game anymore, it was a comedy show.

the answer why he used to be is because he is an american.
