Beyond These Walls: The Gazankulu Squash Court Story is an emotive sports documentary which showcases two young, impoverished squash players training on The Gazankulu Squash Court, a rundown squash court deep in one of South Africa's poorest townships — Soweto.

The documentary follows them as they take on the country’s top players in two pivotal tournaments and as they grapple with the harsh realities of growing up in poverty.

This documentary was made by @joburgsquashfdn and features the work of @egoliyouthempowerment, a partner Squash for Development Organisation of the @SquashUnitedFoundation

Thanks squashtv for including this beautiful story on your channel. I’m a squash player and my kids play tournaments here in South Africa. Squash is growing and although it requires initial investment in the courts, there’s so much potential to develop without as much ongoing investment as other sports (like hockey, rugby etc)…
Being an individual sport it also has the power to change the lives of the players as they learn self-reliance, self confidence, being responsible, dealing with disappointment, switching from a victim mindset to a growth mindset …

I could go on and on …

Gazankulu Squash Centre is a lighthouse in the storms of these communities

Thank you for this radically honest presentation of how squash is in the non affluent parts of the world. All to often we see the best (paid) players playing in the best tournaments which are often such a far cry from places such as this. This is one of the best videos I’ve seen here. It’s so heartwarming yet at the same time heart wrenching. Please! Keep on doing this as it keeps us all grounded, grateful and humble!I found myself in tears many times! No squash video has ever done this to me! This reminded me so much of the oh! So humble origins of the great pathens from Pakistan from which some of the greatest players ever came!

This was epic - seeing many of the places where I have played squash and people I have competed against in SA. Big kudo's to Dikana (and also everyone else involved!), and a huge shoutout to @SQUASHTV for bringing this to our screens. Keep going, would love to see similar stories from different parts of the globe.
