England wasn't an island till about 7000 years ago. One could walk from mainland Europe, across Doggerland, now the North Sea, to Britain. What happened?

The climate is always changing. No one is denying that fact. Blaming human activities and calling for some sort of dystopian solution is what people question and or reject. Dont obfuscate the facts with wrong and suggestive language.

And those who do believe humans are the cause should turn off your computer right now.

It doesn't matter whether or not global warming exists. We humans should do what we can to take of this Earth for future generations.

Disrupting ecological systems will eventually destroy us not nuclear wars.

We could start by actually protecting property rights from pollution.

Well Anna, i would say, that the sea level has been rising since the ice age ended, infact we are still coming out it. It has no connection to climate change, not to mention...you know that ice age we are still coming out of? Thats why the temperature is increasing. But hey, what do i know, i'm just a meteorologist

This has been already happening in the Maldives and other low-lying islands for the past it does not seem like the trend will reverse any time soon.

@MixedSpecieMixedRace The so called CO2 Temprature Lags is due to outgassing of frozen CO2. Past times of temprature increse were due to the outgassing of CO2 that was previously frozen.

@mrselfdestruct23 I sympathize with you about LA. I've never been there but it is easy to imagine. The problem is not global warming. It is that society is flocking to large urban centres rather than living in smaller communities. This problem would never have occurred if people were more spread out. Why have huge states like Nebraska, the Dakota's, Iowa and such practically empty. Small communities are dying off. Meanwhile urban centres are being strained, especially for water? Thats the prob.

@MixedSpecieMixedRace HSR is a long term investmeny. The Shinseki in Japan took time to be sustainable but saves money. It took almost 20 years for the TGin France to turn a profit.

@qtzlctl2012 tides can pay a big factor, but remember the ocean rising doesn't effect everywhere since the height of the shore and the ground behind it makes a difference also the amount of water satirizing the ground can cause trees to trouble standing and growing as well as crows.
But what exactly is happening there i'm not sure about, but most likely ground height is extremely close to sea level

@MixedSpecieMixedRace Water Vapor is not evenly mixed in the atmosphear and in areas where the planet is warming the least has the most water vapor. Places like around the Equator have the most water vapor while places that are warming the most like the polar region have the least water vapor. Water Vapor is concentrated in some areas while CO2 is evenly mixed. Water Vapor doesn't increse untill temprature increses first. That's why scientists say Water Vapor is a feedback not a forcing.

@DimmedDiamond yes per capita, that is because huge populations are are living in very poor conditions that barely add to the carbon emissions... but that is rising. Especially since industry regulations are even more liberal on environmental policies than the US... like i stated, All Chinese cities couldn't reach the PM2.5 measurement regulations that was set. (and that was 3x higher than that of the US). That also contributes to global warming and it isn't all CO2

Perhaps your problem with the Doran study is the results rather than the methods. Sadly for you there is another study that came up with similar results. Instead of surveying climatologists' opinions, this study went straight to the papers they published. They found that "..97–98%of the climate researchers most actively publishing in the field surveyed here support the tenets of ACC.." That was 97-8% of 908 scientists.

Yes, Kiribatis is pronounced 'Kiribahs'.

Not surprised they didn't know this as it isn't exactly the world's best-known nation. So they get a pass from me on that one. Am I not merciful?

@dfg93353 The biggest problem with fossil fuels though is they won't last forever. Pollution (as dangerously important as it is) is really just a side effect of using such an outdated method to create energy

It's pronounced Kira-bass. Sheesh you'd think news reporters would know how to say it right.

@wilbert1755 Yeah.. those are NGO's (Non-Government Organizations), I fail to see what private environmental groups have to do with anything. Also the oil industry gets BILLIONS of dollars in tax breaks and subsidies. The US government is one of the most irresponsible when it comes to climate on the planet.
