Ok, I can't believe how invested I am on a Disney show ahaha, everyday I go check theowldetective's tumblr to read the new stuff (btw if u want to understand the show more deeply u should totally check it, I'm addicted to all the analysis and theories) and I just have inspiration to vid GMW and nothing else lol. So, I have two Lucaya videos on the way and an Rilaya one, get ready.

So, I've made this video to kind contradict the whole "Maya turned into Riley and absorbed her feelings for Lucas" thing, which is totally bs. Riley obviously has the best intentions and I love her but ughhh her diagnosis of "Maya's problem" is sooo wrong. Yes, Maya changed, she grew in season two and embraced hope, which is great... Getting good grades and behaving better shouldn't be a problem. Of course, Maya is a little off in this episode but I think it has more to do with the non-triangle thing, plus the fear of losing her best friend and all this feelings she has that she doesn't understand yet.

Maya deserves so much better than what she gets. Sometimes Riley is a terrible friend to Maya and she deserves an apology. But that's just my opinion.

i don’t understand why the phrase “people change people” is repeated so damn much but as soon as one of the characters starts to change or does something that’s out of the ordinary for them, one or more of the character freaks out is like “this is not you”

That end literally killed me. That scene killed me. People thinking that Maya has an identity crisis is really pissing me off because she didn't have one, but they sure pushed her into one. Getting good grades like Riley AND Farkle, changing your style LIKE Farkle and liking the same boy as Riley are common things that happen every day to every teenager. Everyday we change a little bit. And they messed up Maya's mind. Especially Riley and Josh. Now don't get me wrong, i think Riley's intentions were good but she wasn't right, now Josh is a completely different story. What right does he have to show up from nowhere and tell Maya who she is and explain her actions when there's absolutely nothing to explain. He wasn't there. How can he just tell her that her feelings for Lucas were fake and that she 'became' Riley to protect her best friend? He doesn't know anything. You know what time does to people? It makes them grow. Did anyone say Farkle had an identity crisis for changing his clothes, hairstyle and even the way he acts? Did anyone think that he wanted to be Lucas or whatever? No. Because people grow, people mature, people evolve, people CHANGE. And he changed just like Maya did. In my opinion(keep that in mind), Josh was being selfish. All those times Maya told him she liked him and he simply turned her down. Now she begins to move on and he appears from nowhere, dismisses her feelings, tells her she's not being herself, when he hasn't been there to get to know her or the person she became, and suddenly tells her that he'll play the long game? He can't do that. He has no right to do that. You know what he did with all this? He made her think that she likes him and only him, don't even deny it 'cause it's true. He tells her all that shit about her feelings for Lucas being fake because she was torn between the two of them. Please remember the last scene of this video because that's the only thing right right now in this show. Everyone owns and apology to Maya, and one day she'll get it.

This is absolutely wonderful. It breaks my heart the way they've treated Maya; she changed because the people in her life influenced her. She didn't "become" Riley. That storyline is ridiculous and this video just proved that. I love this, thanks for making it.

Can I just say: SOMEONE SHOW THIS TO THE WRITERS!!! This is not only insanely beautiful and aesthetically insane, it's so thoughtfully put together which each scene contradicted the ways Riley believes that Maya "became" her. This is by far one of the most outstanding videos I have ever seen! Amazing :)

I think Maya is so mature and doesn't get enough credit for being such a loving and good person. the writers need to make Riley understand Maya has feelings also and she is emotional, Riley isn't a good friend for saying Maya needs to stay the same Maya she was when she was in middle school but Riley herself is allowed to find herself and grow up mostly mature. Maya is strong and deserves the best life.

When Farkle changed out of his turtleneck and bowl hairstyle people accepted him for it, but when Maya got better grades and changed clothing styles people automatically think somethings wrong with her. I don’t understand?

I'm crying right now you know when Maya was screaming at Riley and Riley was just singing trying to drown her out. I think that's a metaphor for what happened. They are all just telling what to do who to be and how to feel. She's her own person why just why go down this road writers why make up such stupid things when we all know it came out of no where. It's not like she was all sun shine and rainbows that would make more sense and if they would have built it up but they didn't they just through it in our face and said hey Maya became Riley obviously because she likes Lucas it has to be her trying to be like Riley. Just I hate this show it ugh! I'm done I'm done.

People who believe in this "Maya turned into Riley" thing need to learn the concept of character development, this video is amazing, showing how maya IS maya and her voice is still her voice

I think she did changed, but Riley just perceived it wrong. Unlike Riley, Maya actually grew up - more quicker than Riley. Riley has a mind of young teenager however Maya is a different case.

Maya grew up quick because of her broken pieces, she became mature. A young woman. Maya is Riley's guardian, like a mother. Riley expects Maya to be there for her as a friend and Maya follows that because she knows that Riley needs her. Riley rebels still yet Maya transitioned into a young woman.
