Pakistani foreign policy expert Uzair Younus lauded India’s digital development saying that his first-hand experience of the expanding digital footprint in India during a recent visit to the country made him feel like he was visiting a state from the future. The Pakistani foreign policy expert expressed how impressed he was when he saw a cobbler in Mumbai offering a QR code scanner to his customers to enable digital payment. He said, "A paan shop owner also had a QR code scanner. Cash was not needed at all." Younus asserted that he watched in awe as people had kachoris at eateries and seem to leave just like that. He said he was first wondering why the customers are leaving without paying for their meals, it him later that they had done so digitally.
“I was wondering why the shopkeeper was allowing his customers to leave without paying for their meals. Then I saw that there was a PayTm QR code and the customers were simply scanning the code to make the payments,” he added.

India has evolved dramatically in the previous ten years. I would not dismiss the role of previous governments, but the rate at which progress is occurring now is unprecedented.

I came to India from the United States after 8 years and is surprised by the digital transactions happening. I am right now in Himachal Pradesh visiting remote mountainous villages and literally everyone transacts via upi

Our financial 'wizard' Chidambaram ridiculed Modiji when he introduced digital payments.."How our largely ignorant people could use mobile phones, lack of internet facilities in villages"...etc.
People have adapted to latest technology fast and for their part Government also moved superfast in creating infra..
So Chidambaram has cut a very sorry figure...

Achieving prosperity and securing financial independence is not as challenging as commonly perceived. Accumulating wealth and maintaining enduring financial security becomes significantly more achievable with the right knowledge. Engaging in financial programs and utilizing appropriate financial products represents the most reliable strategy to generate substantial income and sustain affluence over the long term.

And how much the Narendra Modi government was criticized when he launched the JAM trinity, no one can forget the number of PILs that were filed against Aadhar or when Jio launched free services, today India does 40 % of the world's digital transactions way, way ahead of China and USA. This JAM stack has empowered the marginalized particularly the women no one wonder they are the biggest vote bank of the Modi government because it has made their lives so much more easier - democracy is not in danger in India opposition political parties are their existence is at stake.

I confirm that no money charged for services and facilities provided by the government. This includes Adhaar as well as zero balance bank accounts. Other services too.
Lastly, Internet access and mobile penetration is practically the highest in the world.
You guys are doing a great job. More power to you.

Has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon where even Pakistanis acknowledge India's progress, but our own opposition and certain Western media outlets refuse to admit that anything positive has happened in India since 2014?

Some of the worthy digital advancements in recent times:
- UPI (which you've covered)
- Fasttag
- Digilocker
- Ujwala scheme (direct subsidy in Bank account)
- Aadhar penetration as single point user ID
- ePassport
I know these and I'm not even a tech guy

Actually UPI is not as easy as it sounds, real time cross platform financial transaction is something most of the world has yet to figure out..and that too so cheaply, reliably and in a robust way. The key word here is "Real Time". And wow that guy has more knowledge about the whole digital stack India has got than many Indians. He was on point.

It is actually true. So much of digitisation has happened in India, thanks to Modi govt. (credit where it’s due). Coming back to India from a ‘technological advanced’ country Japan, it has been a huge shift..like how he mentioned even small peddlers & vegetable stalls & shopkeepers have online payment options. It’s not just cities but even in small villages (I know this as I traveled to my Parent’s hometown). This is shockingly brilliant..I’ve seen people paying even 10₹online..truly cashless! Even though Japan is called technologically advanced, online transactions are very less..people still prefer cash which is very annoying. Even in USA when I travelled recently, UPI transactions is not prevalent. Cash is widely used.
People In India should realise what insane shift digitisation has done/doing. Kudos to that!!!

Those who have eyes and a genuine common sense will see how the current government is a gem. But the two faced media and opposition of our country and pseudo-intellectuals will keep criticizing modiji.

We are using digital payments almost for every transaction, I rarely transact with physical money these days. Our present government has transformed payment system in an unimaginable way.

It's exactly Rocket science, even more to have such an amazing digital infrastructure, your mind ll be blown when you ll know about Mparivahan, digi-locker, Fastag, Covin, ewaybill portals etc. That's a huge digital infrastructure and I believe no country even western countries now have such digital infrastructure.

Not only in Mumbai, in my native town that too in North East uses upi to transfer money, buy things. UPI is a great success.
