NEW GOLF CLUBS DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE

New golf clubs do NOT make this mistake. Mark Crossfield talks new golf clubs and the common mistake many make when buying a new set of golf clubs. This is simple golf buying advice for golfers who want to make sure they get me most from their golf game and golf equipment. If you are buying a new driver or a new set of golf irons or even a new wedge make sure your info at the fitting helps you understand how this golf club will work or not for you in the real world as well as the fake indoor world. Have you ever wondered why when you buy new golf clubs they sometimes do not perform the same way they did when you tested them in your fit?

Todays golf video will help you make the best golf clubs choices for your golf game and help you improve your buying experience. In the comments below let me know if you have ever bought clubs then they have not worked out who they did during the fit?

As much as I enjoy the content I'm happy with my golf coach (cheers Glen) and one lesson with the muppets just wouldn't be fair to anyone.
I advocate everyone invests in lessons over new equipment, far bigger gains to be had that way.

One of my buddies that I play with misses short from his ego all the time.
"171 yards, what are you hitting? I'm going with my 8-iron." 🤦‍♂️

This is why I watch MC and Coach. I'm not aware of anyone that takes the finer points of strike from the range or studio to their actual rounds better. I really appreciate that.

Mark this is you at your best, I have friends that have said they don't quite get you, I tell them its these videos that you do that where you really demonstrate the critical thinking, the thoughtful insight and genuine care for us golfers to cut through the trash that is out there, thanks mate. Love all your vids (course vlog, reviews and the tests). Keep it up. Cheers

"I have stats" but honestly, they are so damn inconsistent that they may not be useful, just sayin' y'all.

A real eye opener, containing a lot of information that I was completely unaware of. For those, like me, who don't have access to studio equipment it almost calls into question the usefulness of review and stats videos, as there are so many different variables out of our control. It feels, therefore, that we would be constantly in danger of comparing apples and pears.

This is REALLY valuable info thanks Mark. I knew about the spin and carry differences but had never really thought about about the launch angle. And here I've been trying to get my indoor 7 iron launch down from 20* to 15*! That was an eye opener. The difference in ball speed consistency was an interesting outcome I hadn't expected either.
An indoor/outdoor comparison for the long irons (less turf interaction) and wedges (more turf interaction) would be really interesting to see Mark. Cheers.

I had a trackman lesson on saturday to identify my carry distances, wow what an eye opener. I then play sunday and commit to the numbers and play the best golf of my life. Made me think so much more about distance where i wanted the ball etc... i think this may well of changed my game for the better i hope!

Mark. That was one of the most honest appraisals I've heard (mat vs turf). Thanks

I love how Mark understands and truly wants to help the golfers, not just sell clubs. He’s obviously doing good, but that’s through hard graft and an u see standing of the industry. Thanks and keep it up.

I am addicted to this channel. I have really improved this year and I know part of it is from watching these videos. I am hitting the ball longer and straighter than ever (I've been playing for around 35 years). I am very glad I stumbled across you guys. Only wish I would have found you sooner.

Got custom fit at Cool Clubs in Melbourne, ended up with Srixon Z585. At the end fitter told me that numbers will differ out on course due to all the reasons you stated, and that i will need to test that over my first few rounds. Nice to know i got some good advice.

I’ve paused the video and I’m going with low spin long balls from inside. Outside spin more short.

And yes...correct. You have been saying this for sometime. And I learned the above here first.

I come here mostly for Fun Parfield, but Professor Parfield always makes me a more informed golfer.

Love it as usual Mark.

This is such a cool look into inside v. outside shots. Hitting off a mat is quite different from the ground... and it's more than feel. Deep dive Mark... Insightful stuff.

Hi Mark, hope your well.

I fully understand and agree with the points you’ve raised. I’m a very good driving range (matt) player. I don’t hold back on swing speed. I feel I hit the ball with more freedom. The second I hit from grass, I’m chucking, thinning and shanking the ball every where. And I notice I’m being more guarded with my swing speed. If I could take a matt out on the course I’m sure I could shoot under 80. Instead of over 100 every round.

So I would also add that there is a mentality change in regards to driving range swing and course swing (my playing partner is watching me, there is water/sand in front, I’m going to loose my ball etc).

"I have stats" the more videos you do like this, the more I want to learn. Just absolutely fantastic content Mark, keep it up!

I have stats ... not the best but they’re mine. I played this morning and with your comments in a recent video still in my mind about playing the ‘back’ yardage on watch, it was dewy wet ground. I hit a 6 iron and two 8 irons to within 10 feet over 9 holes. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for this timely video release! I played a few rounds yesterday and had some of this conversation in the back of my head. Several times I had to really think twice about which club I should use on an approach or on a par 3. On most occasions I ended up going with the "longer" club for my yardage and the results (as long as I made a decent swing) were generally much better than I would say my average would be and gave me some better birdie or par putting opportunities! Very helpful advice, tho it's always hard to swallow the ego...😉

Great videos as always. The element missing is that you need to take your current clubs to a fitting to establish base line club and shaft specifications, launch conditions and distances so you can compare like with like with trying new clubs in regards to effect of mat and ball used. It is good to understand the difference between mat and grass contact, and relate this to your current on course distances in your fitting process but the baseline numbers will give you confidence you are seeing real differences. I feel a key factor part is to know loft and shaft lengths as manufacturers tweak these so, compared to your current 7 iron, a new 7 iron may have 2 degrees less loft with a 1/4 inch longer shaft which will of course do further!
