Do you know why Abraham was circumcised? What is the reason and significance of it? Do you have to be circumcised to be saved? Do Jewish people who believe in Christ still have to be circumcised? Are there any spiritual benefits to being physically circumcised or is it completely useless all together now? Believers should be able to answer these questions. All the answers are found in Romans 4, but they do take some explaining through a clear grace based New Covenant lens.

Perfect. Circumcision, the removal of flesh. And that is exactly what happens to us when we die on the cross with Jesus.
Salvation is the result as the flesh (our enemy) is crucified with christ. We can only die once into salvation just as christ did. After that our flesh (old man) cannot destroy our salvation.

What if I have a huge problem with circumcision on infants. I honestly can’t help feeling that cutting at a child’s genitals is incredibly abusive and so I am working on reading the Bible for the first time in my life. I handed my life over to Jesus. But this circumcision stuff is really hard for me. Because God told Abraham to do this and maybe I don’t have to do that but what kind of God would demand you abuse your children like this? It seems so perverse to me and so wrong.

Circumcision was something the Jewish had to do. If they didn't the unCircumcized were rejected from the Jewish community. After the birth, death and resurrection of our God we don't need to do it.
