Dr. Rogers continues preaching through The Book of Romans in this sermon on Romans 9:14-29 entitled, "God's Sovereign Right to Choose."

The startling truth about the sovereignty of God in election is not that He chooses some, but that He chooses any at all. God’s work in salvation, from beginning to end, is a work of grace and mercy, and He has the divine prerogative to do so as He wills.

Just as the potter has the right to do as he pleases with the clay, even more so God has the sovereign right to choose those whom He will show mercy to and those whom He will not.

In Romans 9:14-29, the Apostle Paul gives thorough explanation of God’s sovereign right to choose to show mercy. The plain truth is this: Mercy is given only because God chooses to give it. In this passage of Scripture, we see three principles about God’s sovereign right to choose, and in the understanding of these principles, we find great reason to rejoice in glory of God’s grace toward us in His Son Christ Jesus.

This is a sermon from Romans 9:14-29 and below you will find the video recording and a sermon outline to help you follow along as you watch. I hope this study tool helps you grow in your love for the Lord Jesus and in your obedience to Him.

And perhaps as In Hosea and Isaiah He will call him His people who were not his people, beloved who was not beloved, they shall be called sons of God as He did in my life. I pray for salvation for my daughter, his father, my grandchildren for they have not yet accepted Jesus as their Savior. I believe His word that says “ The seed of the righteous shall be saved🙏🙏🙏

Wow!!! As I was praying this morning as my grandson possibly be convicted of a crime this scripture popped into my Spirit🥹😩 What a break down of the scripture!!! I am both convicted for expecting God to do what I think is best concerning this situation with my grandson going to court and how Harsh the punishment is that the detective wants to give him. Perhaps, just perhaps this is ALL TO MAKE HIMSELF KNOWN AS THE ONE AND ONLY SOVEREIGN GOD WHO DOES AS HE PLEASES. I’m still praying for His Grace and mercy but Not My Will but His that He would get the glory.🙏🙏🙏

Romans 9:13 “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”

Hi Pastor Jordan. I'm really enjoying the series on Romans. I agree that God has the Sovereign right to choose whom He wants for salvation. A verse of Scripture that has always puzzled me about this issue is Acts 17:30 which says, "Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but God now commands all men everywhere to repent..." How do these 2 thoughts connect ? If God only chooses some for salvation, and others are in a hardened or blind state, how can the Lord "command" all men everywhere to repent ? Do such people have the capability to be able to fulfil such a command ? I'd appreciate any input or thoughts that you might have to share. May God bless your ministry.

Pastor, I say to people that Jesus could return today. I get a lot of responses from people saying, no it can't be today because this and that in the Bible must come to pass and have not happened yet. I say, Jesus can do whatever He wants. He is sovereign. Either those events have happened in some way or God/Jesus can choose to bypass them. Some Bible scholars want to argue this. What do you think?
