Selling our condo in Italy and moving back to Canada. Italian government keeps changing the law at our expense, very sad that they do that. The condo we bought being on the fast track for citizenship was vacant for 6 years since Sulmona has a depopulation issue. Last week they decided to remove the great grandfather from the jure sanguini line and disqualifying us. It took us a year to locate all documents in Italy and Canada at great expense, not fair at all. They should be ashamed.

Why is the new law not that any person born to Italian lineage after march 28th, 2025 is only eligible through grandparents or parents. Anyone born be fore that should be eligible as it is a birth right that is simply being recognized. If they want to change it it should be for all people born of Italian descent moving forward

Question- if you are a citizen but your passport was delayed and you don’t have an id card either, can you enter and stay in Italy using your non Italian passport and Estratto per riasunto dell’atto di nascita as proof until you can get your passport?
