I noticed after watching Drive that the main character (actor Ryan Gosling) is literally me.

Just yesterday my friend came up to me and asked me if something was wrong. He noticed that I seemed different recently. Of course something changed, I just watched another Ryan Gosling movie. Thank you to Ryan Gosling because without him I wouldn't have a personality.

I know many of you think that the Driver is literally you, but actually he's literally me.

You're all the extras in the background, I'm the one who carries a hammer around to murder people.

That gosling quote just made the entire film make much more sense and explains a lot

lol the way Gosling describes the Driver is exactly how most of the "literally me" fans of this movie are

I got a fucking Mustang because of this movie. No jacket or anything cause I’m not complete autist, but I did get a silver 14 mustang and drive around late at night because Gosling is literally me.

No analysis of Drive is complete without a deep dive into the psyche of a Drive fan. 😌 Pure kino.

If Scott Pilgrim vs the World ruined a generation of women then Drive ruined a generation of men

Le Samurai inspired The Driver, The driver inspired Drive and Drive probably Inspired Baby Driver. Crazy how a story about a car driver who gets into a job that goes wrong is so common and yet so awesome every damn time! It'd be cool if you made a video essay on Baby Driver.

The influences go even further back. It's basically the same story as Shane. A mysterious cowboy with a dark past befriends a family and reluctantly fights a criminal boss to protect them, but after the bloodshed knows he can't live with them, so he rides off into the sunset while still bleeding.

i'm trying not to be the "literally me" guy, but this film taught me that whenever i'm in an awkward situation in life, i can just not say anything and shit just deescalates

This seems to happen every time a ‘cool’ character gains attention. Tommy Shelby is a good example for recently. Whole wave of haircuts, fashion and people who try to emulate Tommy’s non-reactive demeanour. It’s an interesting psychological effect, like we are so boring in our real lives we pretend to be someone else.

“There is no greater solitude than that of the samurai, unless it is that of the tiger in the jungle… perhaps…”
-Bushido
Stories about lonely, wandering criminals, and warriors are super old and dudes will never stop wanting to be like them. It’s just one of those things.
