I actually played a dwarven bard in pathfinder for a while. Played the anvil and summoned elements of earth and fire with the ringing. Once filled a room with something like 14 mud elemental and made it impossible for the guys we were fighting to move.

Well, in D&D 5e, Mountain Dwarves get Proficiency in Light and Medium Armor, along with a few weapons, regardless of class. As it is, many subclasses of Clerics are Proficient in Heavy Armor or Martial Weapons, with some getting both.
