Webinar: Unpacking the amendments to the National Water Act & Water Service Authority
Показать описание
South Africa faces a critical water challenge. In November 2023, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) proposed amendments to two key pieces of legislation: the National Water Act (1998) and the Water Services Act (1997). These amendments have significant implications for water resource management and public access to water.
To help you understand the proposed changes and their potential impact as well as implications, WaterCAN, in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg's Centre for Social Development in Africa (CSDA), invites you to a webinar.
The distinguished speakers are John Dini (Water Research Commission), Dr. Anthony Kaziboni (University of Johannesburg) and Faeza Meyer (Prominent Water Justice Activist). The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ferrial Adam (WaterCAN).
The primary objective of this webinar is to dissect the proposed amendments, enabling civil society to comprehend the potential impact on our water resources and services. It is hoped that participants will be able to use the information from the webinar and take it back to their respective organisations to draft submissions and comments by the deadline of March 1, 2024
