Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship | Cincinnati Children's

Показать описание
At Cincinnati Children’s, we have world-class expertise in digestive disorders and one of the top-ranked Gastroenterology programs in the country. We’re passionate about providing the best care for kids. And we’re committed to training the next generation of physician-scientists in the field.
Scott Pentiuk, MD, Fellowship Program Training Director: "One of the things I like to describe our fellowship with is it's a little bit like a candy store. There is so much to do here that you can do too much and get sick. So part of my job, with this mentality, is actually helping fellows focus and find what their passion is and go into it, also giving them all of the diversity that they need to know for gastroenterology."
Fellows find more than mentors here. They find family.
Stephanie Bachi, MD, former fellow, now faculty: "When I came for my interview, I was really nervous. I actually had a list of attendings that would interview me, and I saw people that I knew from publications, and they're very respected in the field. While I was actually very nervous, I think meeting these people, like how nice they were and how welcoming, such a good environment, such a nice environment, that's really important, because it felt really good. It felt like home."
Cincinnati Children’s is consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top pediatric hospitals. And researchers and clinicians want to be at the leading edge of discovery. We want you to make those discoveries here.
We have one of the best-funded divisions in the nation by the National Institutes of Health. More than half of our faculty have ongoing, well-recognized, disease-based research programs.
Jorge Bezerra, MD, Division Director: "It is a unique environment in which clinicians, scientists and basic researchers all work together. What attracts fellows here is our history and tradition of innovation. We really use innovation to design best treatments to approaches and care of our patients."
Our Pancreas Care Center is one of only a few pediatric programs nationwide to be recognized by the National Pancreas Foundation as a center of excellence. And to faculty, the center’s success is a proof of concept that should encourage those who train here.
Maisaam Abu-El-Haija, MD, Medical Director, Pancreas Care Center: "It's fellow junior people that come to programs, and they feel that they have an idea, they have a goal, they have a dream. If they are in the right environment, they will get there."
We have a broad array of clinical opportunities because we have so many specialties and clinics, and we are a national and international referral destination for more than 8,000 new patients each year.
Danny Mallon, MD, MSHOEd, Program Director for Student and Resident Education: "There are a few programs around the country that can offer similar experience, but only a few that can offer you the depth and the breadth of patient experiences if you go elsewhere. There's nothing that's going to phase you. There's nothing you're going to be afraid of, because everything, you've seen. You've seen it all."
When it comes to research, we pursue ground-breaking basic and clinical work to enhance care for our patients. And our team will help you find what fits your passion.
Stavra Xanthakos, MD, Former fellow, now faculty: "We don't want people to come in and just have to do a research project to fulfill the requirements to sit for the boards. We're really interested in helping a fellow find what's exciting to them and helping them match that with their clinical interests. If you enjoy being in the lab, versus if you enjoy being around patients more, it affects to some degree what you want to do. And the nice thing about this place is that we have faculty doing all kinds of different things, and you can really get to talk to them about what they're doing and find whose career you must want to emulate."
Kevin Murray, MD, Gastroenterology fellow: "Being able to work here and train and learn from the GI doctors has been an incredible experience. And this is really the reality of my dream job from when I was a child growing up.”
Here, you’ll find the friendliness of the Midwest, the compassion of colleagues and mentors who will hold you to the highest standards and push you to be even better.
Ted Denson, MD, Division Director of Research: "We have a tremendous breadth of patients that we see and take care of, and that's really all where it starts. As well as the complete spectrum of research that we're doing. (more)"
A large part of our division's mission is our commitment to education and preparing you for your future.
Corie Klepper, MD, Gastroenterology fellow: "Our program is really big. It's one of the bigger programs in the country. (more)"
Daniel Castillo, MD, Gastroenterology fellow: "I definitely want to focus on endoscopies (more)"
