Marvel's Daredevil is an American television series created by Drew Goddard for the streaming service Netflix, based on the Marvel Comics character Daredevil. It is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the franchise's films, and was the first Marvel Netflix series leading to the crossover miniseries The Defenders. Daredevil was produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios. Steven S. DeKnight served as showrunner for the first season, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez taking over as co-showrunners for the second, and Erik Oleson joining the series as showrunner for the third; Goddard served as a consultant for the series.

Charlie Cox stars as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, a blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime as a masked vigilante by night. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent D'Onofrio also star, with Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Bob Gunton, and Ayelet Zurer joining them for season one, Jon Bernthal, Élodie Yung, and Stephen Rider joining the cast for season two, and Joanne Whalley, Jay Ali and Wilson Bethel joining in season three. Daredevil entered development in late 2013, a year after the film rights to the character reverted to Marvel, with Goddard initially hired in December 2013. Cox was cast in May 2014, and the Daredevil costume was designed by Ryan Meinerding of Marvel Studios' design team. The series was intended to be darker than other Marvel projects, intentionally avoiding crossovers with the wider MCU and focusing on a crime fiction style that was inspired by 1970s films. Design inspiration was taken from the Hell's Kitchen setting of the comics, with filming taking place in New York City.

The first season was released in its entirety on Netflix on April 10, 2015, followed by the second on March 18, 2016, and the third on October 19, 2018. They were met with positive reviews and received numerous accolades including several nominations for Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. A spin-off series centered on Bernthal's character Frank Castle / Punisher, titled The Punisher, was ordered by Netflix in April 2016. Netflix canceled Daredevil on November 29, 2018. It, along with the rest of Netflix's Marvel series was removed from Netflix and added to Disney+ in March 2022, after Disney regained the license for them. Beginning in 2021, Cox and D'Onofrio reprised their roles as Murdock and Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in MCU projects produced by Marvel Studios.

Wilson Grant Fisk is a powerful businessman and crime lord with an interest in controlling New York City. Decades after murdering his abusive father when he was a child, Fisk formed alliances with other criminal enterprises, used the aftermath of the Battle of New York to gain power in the city, and attempted to rebuild Hell's Kitchen by destroying and gentrifying it. His criminal activities brought him into conflict with Daredevil, as well as some of his partners who betrayed him, and he was arrested after his actions were leaked to the FBI. Within Ryker's Island, Fisk began building up a following and came to run the prison. Seeking to destroy the crime competition in New York by the time he got free, Fisk assisted with Punisher's escape, as he desired to eliminate all competing criminal empires as Kingpin, putting him in conflict with Nelson and Murdock who had sought to send him to prison.

Desiring his freedom, Fisk then set about a plan to exploit the FBI by exposing criminals in New York City in order to then be placed in the Presidential Hotel, where Fisk could continue with all of his criminal activities while focusing most of his efforts on exposing Matt Murdock as Daredevil. From his new position of strength, Fisk had then began to blackmail and to manipulate several FBI agents, including Benjamin Poindexter, to aid him with framing Daredevil as a terrorist, while he also ensured that his name was cleared within the eyes of the law so that Vanessa Marianna could return to him. However, all Fisk's schemes were finally thwarted by the posthumous testimony from Ray Nadeem, while Poindexter learned all about Fisk's manipulation of him. Daredevil and Poindexter defeated Fisk, resulting in his return to prison.

What did you think of Kingpin’s look in Echo??

Glad they understood that Kingpin isn't an obese man, he's just incredibly built and muscular

People always comment on the casting of Marvel actors like RDJ, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman. But Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin is one of the most absolutely perfect comic book castings I've ever seen.

It's incredible they were able to make such a lean guy like Donofrio look so wide

I think the MASTERFUL detail they accomplish was the fact that while his suits we closer fitting they were never ILL fitting, cheap looking, or overly tight which is a fantastic attention to detail for a character as tailored as The Kingpin is. This is something you seldom see in Hollywood and they nailed it! Amazing show and casting!

Not only the suit, even the mannerism and the acting also was superb. It brought the character of Kingpin into live stage effectively.

As a diehard Spiderman/Daredevil fan (Im 60 now), This version of Kingpin absolutely blew my mind. Appreciated the accuracy of his persona, making him JUST as large on screen as he was on page.

Vincent D’Onofrio is one of the greatest treasures in the acting world. I have loved him since 2000 when he did The Cell. He’s hugely talented.

I had no idea - I just assumed that D'Onofrio put on weight for the role. That’s excellent.

Add to that the fact that Vincent D'Onofrio is already an absolute unit himself.

The collar thing is actually pretty genius.

I had no idea for the longest time that this was the same man who played private pyle in full metal jacket. This actor has range !

I’ve watched DD twice and his portrayal of Kingpin ended up being my favorite. The way he talks, how he paces himself, everything. It was perfection.

I was wondering why he felt so weird looking in Hawkeye--now I realize it's because he didn't have a popped collar--the collar was buried under his jacket.

In my opinion the most terrifying villain out there. Nothing scares you like a big dude who can crush your skull with his barehand and has an attitude of being able to snap at any moment and do it to you.

They did an incredible job with the casting, make up, and clothing. Vincent pulls it off perfectly.

Genuinely without a doubt one of the greatest castings in history.
Just finished season three with my girlfriend and found myself quoting along with his lines. The way he speaks is so powerful. Incredible writing and acting.
