Just to clarify, this is not a promotion nor is this an advertisement! The intro is us having some fun and being more creative :) Please watch the video in its entirety, before making any fast decisions :D

Thanks

HardwareCanucks is the best tech reviewer on YouTube. He has a very calm voice, good mic, and a good camera

From the sounds of it, the only way to make something like this work well, is if games were built with this in mind and the game itself actually told the haptic engines when to give the user the feedback. Nevertheless one step closer to more immersive gaming.

There was a device (although not nearly as good) like this back in the mid 90's as well. It was a back pack with a rumble device in it. I believe the rumble was triggered by the game audio. Can't remember the name of the product now.

Good intro, great first attempt at, well, steering a little bit more away from the super professional reviews, while still keeping the review respectable. I really hope to see more!

I  agree. This definitely need some kind of software (open source etc.) so people can set up different profiles for different games. Just like with wheels & Joysticks, you can always go and download someone else's profile & tweak it to your liking. Hopefully we see something like that in a 2.0 version in the future.

I would love a more extreme version of this.  Full torso, back, maybe even arms.  It would be sweet to physically feel the recoil of guns and the detonation of grenades.  Combine this with VR and gaming is starting to go to a whole new level of immersion.  Like you said in the video, it definitely needs to be active monitoring instead of just a pass-through, probably a software solution so you can customize profiles and add custom plugins and what not.  Definitely a cool first step for this technology.

The lack of built in rechargeable batteries killed it for me

Awesome review!  I love the spread of products you're doing Dmitri.  This was actually something that was first tried in the 70's or 80's for musical applications called "The Bone Fone". This is a much more specific kind of application. Because of the advances in tech, KOR FX as a company could make more advanced versions that were 'tunable' to a wide variety of game types and environments. Maybe a bigger (jacket?) version with a specialized specialized mini-speaker grid could generate the feeling of a light impact. You'd 'feel it' when you were shot or hit or whatever.  Though I LOVE the concept, I dread to even think about the costs of development and the final product price. I sincerely hope that KOR FX can pull it off. Thanks.

I Got mine 2 days ago and LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. This is the PERFECT add on to games. I play BF4 online all the time and I can feel explosions bullet hit and near misses of bullets, This vest rocks. You can use this vest to help in any game or movie or music. Like the vid I do wish the vest had a light on it to tell you left the vest on as it will run down the batteries . But I do use rechargeable batteries now. Just buy the vest....

This is a very interesting concept but needs to be improved further, like you said. As of right now, I don't think it is worth it but with some improvements, I can see this being a product that works very well with VR headsets.

Great review! I really don't understand why some of the people in the comments are questioning your trustworthiness. This video feels completely unbiased, just like the rest of your reviews. Personally, I think you guys make the most critical/nit-picky reviews out there (and I mean that in a good way).

The idea of having more physical feedback is cool... but I dunno if I'd ever want to go through the trouble of putting on a clunky vest for it... I can't even think of how you could implement such a thing in a way that doesn't interfere with comfort... I guess if it was somehow built into the chair.

The ultimate immersion experience will be when we have the technology to create the holodeck from Star Trek TNG. lol

Would this be good as a portable, budget Subpac-like device or would it be better to invest in a less mobile but more powerful AuraSound Bass Shaker?

There is no way that 4 'AA' batteries are producing enough power to make a significant impact. I like this concept but it needs bigger transducers and a much higher output LiPo based battery pack.

My brother used to have something like this, though it was a 12" subwoofer with a weight instead of a cone that attached to your chest/gut region. It halved all low frequencies, so if there was an explosion at 50Hz you would feel 25Hz. It required its own amplifier though, and is roughly 20 years old now, so they probably have stopped making them. According to my dad, whenever there was an explosion, the thing winded you, like being punched in the gut. This may work for multiplayer FPSs, because if it bruises, online multiplayer paintball!

I could see better implications of this kind of tech in the future, definitely needs some love though..

I wouldn't even spend $50 on this. To me it looks like they gave up in development or just made this for a quick cash grab.

A USB interface with an API for the developers would be a good idea (not sound-based, specifically told which feedback to use)
