My Sensei taught me when I was about 7 to sit up straight, with my crown on top, chin slightly down, with very little muscle tension required, focus in my breath - slowing it and my heart rate, let thoughts leave as soon as they arrive - holding nothing, and just exist - while being aware that you exist and are conscious. Do this over and over until you finally feel yourself existing without a body, just your consciousness. Now you have arrived. You will be guided from there.

It could take weeks to years to decades to achieve a state of existing as only your consciousness and free of your body.

This is just the way I did it. It may or may not work for you. There are other ways, perhaps better ways, but this is how I have done it for the last 47 years. I am still working on it and learning. I am no master by any means. Still a humble student.
