what was Memphis doing 5 years ago? Hosting Game Day on Beale Street and earning a slot in the COTTON BOWL. Memphis has played in 10 straight bowl games, won 2 AAC titles and played in 3 AAC Championship games

@ 3:09 "What was Memphis doing five years ago? I couldn't tell ya." How about being a top 25 ranked team, beating the likes of Ole Miss, Cincy (X2), Tulane, SMU, and playing in the Cotton Bowl against Penn St?

UNLV and Nevada have been in different conferences over the years.
These schools are NOT
tied at the hip.

Wyoming has a serious football history. Way better than almost all other contenders.

Regents have said UNLV and Nevada can be split with no issue and have been before. The issue is UNLV have a very poor TV viewership over last 10 years.

I think they end on 9 football members and 10 total, with gonzaga bein the 10th team. An 8 game conference schedule for football and 18 for basketball is perfect and gonzaga brings a huge brand name and massive viewership numbers to the basketball side

If Florida State and Clemson leave the ACC and Pac12 should merge and call it the coast to coast conference.

PAC12 will add UTSA, UNLV, and Gonzaga.
Memphis and Tulane have decided to stay in the AAC and they are adding Air Force.
Mountain West Conference is doomed with no apparent plan and lack of leadership... The next conference collapse.

Any more MW teams (unless they take 8-9 and dissolve), will likely have to pay the 29 mil themselves, Pac 2 is helping a lot with that for the first 4 that they really wanted.

While I kind of needled a Memphis fan about things that will happen if they join the Pac, truth is that the same questions apply to everyone else. Are you ready for the same travel (or worse in most cases) for less money for OSU & WSU? Do you know that schools in this new Pac will be scheduled for a LOT of 7:30pm games, and probably regular non-Saturday games as well?

To me, it seems like that constituted a lot of complaints about the late term Pac-12. The powers that be are not only isolating western schools, but the talk is that networks see $0 value (give or take not much) in leftover MWC schools.

Sometimes I wonder if this is worth the hassle.

UNLV, is quite travel accessible. And there is no connection to UNR. The football program would maybe an up and coming...

What was Memphis doing 5 years ago ummm putting players in the nfl. Memphis has the most wins along with the so called p2 Alabam, Ohio state and etc. Houston sucked in the aac and Cincy became relevant late in the aac. What do yall be watching when it comes to college football. They just beat Iowa st last year and miss st year before. Memphis will beat all of these teams in these other conferences. Not one team in the sec outside of Alabama and Georgia can beat Memphis. Memphis gave the Missouri game away last year so it’s not like the sec is great. Miss St got the breaks beat off of them by Toledo. But they say the sec is the best

Bigger question: Does it even matter? You’re not getting any money. You’re not getting an AQ for the CFP (And the CFP is going to get rid of the G5 spot in 2 years anyways) and it’s clear that the program is circling the drain.

I’ve been a beaver fan my whole life, went to school at OSU, been to damn near every game. I’m REALLY tired of seeing this school constantly set extremely low bars for themselves, especially when they keep missing it. Let’s be frank: G5 football going forward will be about as meaningful as FCS Football. In other words, it HAS no meaning. Is that what OSU is aiming for? To be permanently stuck as the irrelevant farming college that you have to drive through to get to a REAL school like Oregon?

Oh yeah, Beaver fans HATE when you bring up Oregon’s success. And trust me, NO ONE hates Oregon more than I do. But dammit, look at what THEY’VE built as opposed to US! They weren’t satisfied with being USC and UW’s punching bag. So when they got their big successful season in 1994, they pounced on the opportunity. They used the success to bring in Phil Knight and used his money to build the current powerhouse we know them as today. Where’s OSU’s boosters and alumni? OSU had a better season in 2000-01 when they won the Fiesta Bowl, so where was OSU’s investment? Oh yeah, AD Bob DeCarolis didn’t care. Presidents Paul Risser and Ed Ray didn’t care. The “Investments” they parroted for the next decade resulted in some of the worst facilities in the PAC-12 and a half finished stadium, one that was so dilapidated and broken that the university had virtually no choice but to finish the stadium expansion that started in 2004. Do they try to make a stadium to rival Autzen? Expand the capacity to 50K? Nah, they REDUCED capacity. Because why aim high when you could potentially miss? It’s a lack of ambition, a lack of desire. And now, they’ve lost the ONLY saving grace they had. But the administration seems to have retained their prior arrogance and ignorance to the direction CFB and college sports in general are headed. Maybe it’ll hit them when they realize they’re playing in a half empty stadium against a defacto FCS team for zero stakes. But somehow, I doubt it.
