Approximately 1 in 6 people in the US are Latinos yet according to a study from a couple of years back, Latinos are cast in only 5% of speaking roles in films, and oftentimes those are minor roles and/or reinforce negative stereotypes. So yeah, the level of underrepresation in the media is shocking.
