i appreciate you highlighting some of the smaller sets of the year, it annoys me when people focus exclusively on the huge sets that half of the community can't afford. i kinda got caught up in the Deku Tree hype cycle earlier this year and missed out on a lot of really good small sets because of it, but at least i got the lego Zelda set that kid me always dreamed of

I love the facts that you are rating them by different aspects

What a refreshing list! The 2024 City sets I got to build this year were incredible, and I'm tempted to get that Friends set as well!
I too hate expensive sets, and I'm quite happy of how most of my top picks were priced at $100 or lower.

No Coles titan dragon mech? That set is revolutionally.

Appreasite the variety of this list tho, i've seen too many lists with only 18+ lisenced sets, with the years modulars placed somewhere

I think my favorite set of the year, one of the best, also the one I got, is the Ninjago Coles Dragon Mech
Its just phenomenal, so large yet so sturdy and dynamic and moveable, makes it amazing to display, change up and play.
Its not only a good lego mech it rivals even action figure stuff and their prices

I've got a top 5 for sets I personally built this year, and the number 1 set I WOULD have wanted to build this year.
5. Bowser's Muscle Car
- This set was honestly just fun to build. I've got the big Bowser already, and I definetly had to pick up this smaller one with his really cool purple car from I believe 3D World.
4. Japan Postcard
- It's a small set, but it packs in some great little details. The hotdogs on the bridge are fun, the mini Himeji Castle is great, and Mount Fuji in the back really ties it all together.
3. Poinsettia
- This set is honestly pretty impressive in person, and it looks very similar to the real deal. It was a bit repetitive, but overall a fun experience, and those giant shuriken pieces in dark red are a fun part usage.
2. Chrysanthemum
- Once again I'm thankful for my grandma being a Botanicals enjoyer. This one was a lot of fun to build. The pot is one of my favorites from all of the Botanicals sets, and I just couldn't help but laugh at how BANANAS the parts usage on this one is.
1. Batman with the Batmobile vs Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze
- This set is what has gotten me back into LEGO DC after a decade, and with the reveal of that new Superman set, seemingly at a great time. It's got some excellent figures, and with the stud shooters removed, this is a really nice display piece.

As for the number one set I would have wanted, it's gotta be the Great Deku Tree. Zelda isn't a series I love to play by any means, but I do love the characters and world. Seeing as Ocarina of Time 3D was my first game, and Majora's Mask is my favorite, this set and the awesome figures it comes with are just something that I hope to get in the future, or hopefully getting the figures in a more reasonably priced and sized set.

I don't even know if it's from this year but a few days ago I saw the Ninjago Cole's Titan Dragon Mech and it's the best official lego mech I've seen and I'm definitely trying to pick it up when I'll have the money for it.

So much value on this list, I love it!

And I love that mobile crane, but the Excavator is my favorite out of those two construction vehicles. It has a few more accessories like the rubble and fences, it has the removable engine, a few good minifigures and it is such a good thing to display next to any building like it is going to demolish it right away.
Currently my Excavator is standing ready to demolish my double creator 3 in 1 castle, a moc made with 2 of those sets, soon going to replaced with a 3 set version. It has so much character and the articulation is just right to be able to use it in any way that seems realistic.

I'm a little sad that we didn't get to see any of the superfun explorer sets on the list, as a whole they can function as an honorable mention, for introducing so many good animal molds and keeping city fresh with new animals to use.

Your list is perfect! Yesterday I bought The Badlands Mineshaft and the Ornithopter. I can't wait to build them!

Interesting unique top 10 ignoring the expensive sets which is a breath of fresh air because the expensive sets are also the best sets often: the lego dnd adventure, the lotr barad dur and now the endurance. You did include the burrow but I agree regardless of the fact that it's 200+ bucks it's still a great set.

I recently picked up a couple of 3-in-1 castle sets for $80 each, as I was using them for a rebrickable model. But one of 'em came first, so I built it. Honestly, it does look kind of silly and kiddish, but the build was very fun, and I was pretty shocked, it's definitely in my top 5 :)

I got some good big sets this year like the Museum Modular and Zelda Deku Tree set, but still I loved tons of the affordable small sets this year like the Johnny Thunder ATV, Minecraft Armory, the Elemental Ninjago Mechs, and of course the Captain Rex Y-Wing Microfighter. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a giant set, but there is a lot of fun in the small stuff

That Mobile Crane is an engineering feat considering it prioritises both aesthetic quality and function.

The LEGO Forest Animals: Red Fox is personally one of my favorite sets of the year for just how good it looks on display. It opened me up into the world non-minifigure scale Creator sets and gets me excited for future creator animal sets!

While you are finishing up the Lego Minecraft moc, can you do a trail ruin please? I think it’d be a cool addition to your world

As someone who fairly recently has gotten into D&D, the D&D set from Ideas has to be one of my favorites from this year. There are so many details, the creatures, hidden objects, and they even made an actual one-shot campaign that utilizes the set as the map. The unnamed minifigs having 2 separate heads like the ones in the CMF series too was also amazing. And even if it's an unpopular opinion I really do love the red dragon build, especially with those reddish orange wings (though I do wish the legs were more stable).
