I believe you can have the cowl fairing with those raised bars - for me it just looks the more complete unit that way. Reminds of the Ducatis 750ss/900ss.

My Thruxton R is now seven years old still looks new and performs great. Besides normal rides I do drag racing and land speed racing with. Recent mods to ecu, cam and slip on exhaust has it pumping out 101 rearwheel horsepower. Just add a corbin seat for rides over 200 miles.

Nice review & great bike. Looks like a true all rounder. Modern spec classy retro looks, comfortable & can scratch a bit too. Although I'd definitely be sticking the race kit on it.

Went to Triumph dealer today and seen one, nice looking bike fairplay and probably perfect for me at my age especially, but I couldn't live with that twin motor, my last bike was a triple and I loved it, before that I've had inline 4's and a VFR which was a V4, tough choices out there now with so many cracking bikes.

got a 2016 Thruxton 1200 non R standard in white with fairing. Looks more retro than the R. Handling, cornering decent, nice geometry to the riding position.
Torque engine all out of puff at amount 115mph but it’s nice at normal speeds. Cruising at 90 mph is easy. The standard brakes and suspension are ok. Maybe the rear shocks could be better but they look the part, nicer than the yellow Ohlins in retro looks. My KTM Duke 790 is much quicker and faster but no one looks at it.

No quickshifter? They fit them (up and down) to lower spec models, why not this range topper?

I wonder how it handles compared to a Kawasaki Z900RS which I reckon is probably its immediate competition. The Kwaka has got more advanced monoshock rear suspension but the Thruxton’s got a twin shock swinging arm design from decades ago (even though it’s got Ohlins).

2019 TFC or 2020 RS. Which is a better buy. Or wait for the 2020 TFC

It would be nice to get rid of using tubes in tires for such a premium machine

That was a bit like watching a Triumph advert😢

You can get a nice Ducati Sport Classic 1000 for the same money. Which would be ‘better’?

A quick shifter to compliment the extra power/ rpm would have been nice 🤔

The main reason I would choose the R9T over this, is that the riding position, riders look silly on thruxton 1200s. And retro bikes are too expensive for what they are. Not worth it.
