Five-star Dog Hotel Opens in Cape Town

A five-star hotel for dogs recently opened in Cape Town and its furry clienteles can expect nothing but true luxury.

AtFritz dog hotel and daycare center is the brainchild of Yanic Klue, who envisaged the concept five years ago of having a hotel cater to the whims and needs of just about every type of dog.

"The entire dog hotel is built on a five-star human hotel, so everything you would get in a human hotel you would really get AtFritz, from an Ala Carte menu where you can order your dog's meals from right through to concierge service. And the concierge service is really there to make sure your dog gets the five-star treatment that he is used to at home. So if the dog is used to walking on Lion’s head, for example, once a day at six o'clock, you can order from the concierge service that one of our dog sitters or professional dog walker walks your dog at six o'clock on Lion’s head,” said Klue.

AtFritz is named after her own dog, Fritz, who also happens to be the hotel’s resident CEO, a five-and-a-half-year-old Irish spaniel seemingly quite used to the good things in life.

KKExclusive rooms like the Dogald Trump suite has a double bed and sofa for guests who might be inclined to stop by to catch a movie on the satellite television. The prices for the rooms range from 25 dollars to 55 dollars.

"So like every five-star human hotels usually have a spa. So you get to go to a spa, you get to do your nails, and also we have a spa and parlor at AtFritz, so we do from pedicures right through to massages and then your normal wash and groom. And then we also, like for example, the guest who's in today also receives a complimentary bubble bath, because we want to make sure our furry friends is healthy and clean," said Klue.

Fine dining is also very important for their pampering, and some meals are made to tailor very special dietary requirements.

"So it's all natural: coconut oils, whole wheat meal, gluten-free for some of my French bull dog friends. And it contains things like marmite, biltong, butternut, mint parsley, everything’s organic and natural. It's baked and it's dried like you will do for a rusk and no preservatives,” said Ilse Fourie, owner of Rogues Paws and Bakery.

Of course, no hotel experience would be complete without a massage and good scrubbing, and judging by the overwhelming positive reactions from so many privileged pooches, this hotel is going to be a popular spot with the canine elite.
