04 - Simplify Fractions to Lowest Terms (Simplifying & Reducing Fractions) - Part 2

In this lesson, you will learn how to simplify a fraction and we will also discuss why simplifying fractions is an important skill. In math, two fractions may look different with a different numerator and denominator yet they may represent the same amount of material. For example the fraction 1/2 and 2/4 represent the exact same amount of pizza. We can simplify a fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by the same number. After the division, we have a new fraction the represents the same amount of material as the original. We may continue dividing the fraction like this until we can no longer do it, after which we say the fraction is in lowest terms. We will simplify fractions into lowest terms after every fraction problem, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions.
