i'm sure there's some explanation, but i've seen a hand full of drum cam videos lately with double bass kits, but still running a double kick to the right bass. what's the reasoning behind doing this? you'd figure it'd be easier to tune spring rate/response on the kicker as 2 singles taking the cross bar out of play...

Pete is playing the closed hat sound on the fast parts on the closed Hi-Hat to his right. I think in the day this was called an "X-Hat", basically a closed hi hat you never manipulated with your foot. He can do that with the traditional hat to his left. This song is such a powerful fucking song I think using that hat on the right allows him to move the notes more freely as his feet are pounding the shit out of the bass drums. This song is a song if you air play it 5 times you could goto a Mexican buffet and still be calorie deficient. lol.
