Thank you so much for your reaction! I love Crash Test Dummies. I love story songs, especially those where the message is understated. I think those of us who really enjoy Crash Test Dummies felt like the outsiders and weirdos that your sponsor talks about, and CTD sing about, so it creates a self-reinforcing cycle of underdog-ism. It's nice to hear someone with authority say there's nothing wrong with us.

I used to just put their breakthrough album, God Shuffled HIs Feet, on repeat and literally listen to it all day. Every song is a gem, with its own particular twist on their peculiar perspective on life.

The album's title song has a line that perfectly captures the band's point of view, when God tells "some people he had made" a story and they don't understand it, and one finally asks him "we're not too clear, about what you just spoke, was that a parable, or a very subtle joke?"

That's CTD in a nutshell: Was that a parable, or a very subtle joke? Take some time and listen to the whole album when you get a chance!

The Crash Test Dummies always had very unique stye to them, I think that is why I was drawn to them. I especially liked "The Superman Song" It came out around the same time the death of superman happened in the dc comic universe. Early 1980's.

I found this song sonically interesting b/c the guy basically violated the tenets of singing soft 'r' sounds. His very hard 'arrrr' sound was really unique to me at the time.

I love this whole album. The quirky lyrics threw some people, but the instruments and harmonies are beautiful. Some really deep themes. You should hear the whole thing. 👍
