Trainz 22 Full release. BUY - Subscribe OR Miss? My thoughts

Thanks for this you've help me decide. I won't be buying/renting until Surveyor 2.0 is in the base game. Totally agree about the game updates. They should release hot fixes if they screw up.

No other sim/game is as confusing with their purchase options as this. I`m a big fan of the route building aspect of this serie and no other train sim/game offers such a tools for me but hwolly hell it takes me a good few minutes to even comprehend what I own, what is "rented" in my Gold pass, for what version it is and what I need to buy to get XYZ.

I think I will wait for Platinum and happily continue with old surveyor for now in Tz19.

I am planning on buying trainz plus gold because
1. I like driving trains more than making routes, so having some detailed routes and trains ready will be nice for me
2. I already have trainz 2019 so it will be an upgrade for me
3. I am planning to learn how to make routes so this will be helpful for me. I mainly want to learn because I can’t find really good routes freeware or payware or routes that aren’t a hassle to fully download, so I am thinking of just making routes on my own for the situations I want.

I did preorder TRS22 soon after it was available, but I did later buy TRS19 Platinum for the extra content (though I'm an American, the Edinburgh - Dundee route and the PBR Duchess were enough for me to buy it) and the TANE Platinum Add-on Pack for me TANE Std package. Although I can't use TRS19 daily anymore since my database has been build 5.1 for some time now, I probably should've just bought TRS19 Platinum and move on from TANR, since it runa terrible through Rosetta on an Apple Silicon Mac.

Regardless, I own TRS22, and though I may jump ship to Trainz+ or possibly buy TRS22 Platinum, I sincerely hope that they pull a TANE Platinum approacg and just add more content and release it as a bundle for standard owners. I'm really hoping for that.

To be honest this is a new way to kill the gaming industry. As you mention devs are going towards subscriptions. That will let them get away with more garbage releases, more chances for bugs, more irritated customers, and all for profit right? You know a little company called Atari allowed so much garbage content to be created for their system that in 1983 it crashed the market. We see this more and more with Steam games and 3rd part devs every year (ever see how many train sim games or sim games in general exist currently?). What I am getting at this is game rental, pay to play garbage. What's the benefit to the consumer? Microsoft has desperately wanted to do this with Windows and no one was having that subscription model (software as a service was the choice instead). Is this what consumers asked for? Judging by the comments below people are avoiding this game over the subscription model. So the answer is no one asked, customers are forced into it if they want the new goodies.

Maybe it's better for the gaming industry to crash harder than ever before. You can't nickle and dime people forever.

I personally think that N3V released 2 games very close to eachother: trs19 and trs22.
Why release a new game that changes some things? Why dont keep trs19 alive for longer?? Why dont fix his poor optimization?? Why dont keep it alive?? And, Trs19 graphics are NOT bad at all, its just the optimization. So, why dont do that?? For example, Planet Zoo is a game within the same simulation genre and is still graced with monthly updates like gameplay and content ones and has released in 2018!! Why doesnt n3v do that?? Why we cant have features like surveyor 2.0 in trs19 anddont say the game is old. 4 years is nothing. Trainz 2019 could be alive for much longer

Good review. I have TS12, TANE and TRS19 and will not buy another version until major things change. The LIVING RAILROAD could make me buy again, but surveyor 2.0 and HD terrain does not warrant spending money each month, building routes and then if you quit the membership all those routes you built are locked. Trainz has always been a route builder for me, I play very little but I do use the driver mode in surveyor route building a lot, it lets you check things you have done to see if they work. TRS22 is a pass for me.

hello, I am new to this and looking for a good model railroad simulator. Looking at your videos this might be one of the best options. My question though, as a total newbie, am I better off getting TS 2019 or TS 2022? I am also from the UK and would prefer the one that has the larger selection of BR trains.

Is Surveyour 1.0 Available with the base game??? Its so confusing. I want a new train sim to do Surveyour in but if it doesn't come with the game without having to subscribe then I just won't bother. Also it's so upsetting to me that Trainz2009 still has more surveyour content than even 2019.... ridiculous.

I subscribe and unsubscribe often whenever I feel like playing this keeps the content downloaded on my PC but I can't use it unless I subscribed which is good cuz sometimes I don't want to play but then gives me access to everything

this game is too complicated. i dont even understand what is in the game for 60 euro. many people say that there is almost nothing and all interesting things like this ICE train is for next money.
