The bands you have talked about can thank Babymetal for their existence. Babymetal was formed in 2010 to ignite a spark to the metal scene that was stagnant at that time. They opened the door overseas for japanese female bands. Now you see the japanese metal scene is thriving thanks in part to Babymetal. Also they are a performance band. They have won many awards for their shows. They do so many genres of metal and no two songs sound alike. You cant go wrong with reacting to Babymetal.

They are internationally huge!! They have sold-out arenas worldwide. They were the first Japanese group/band to perform in Wembley Arena, London breaking the record for band merch sold. They sold-out the LA forum in 2019, they flew the arena stage from Japan for the show.
Su and Moa have been performing on stage since they were 6yo. As to your next reaction, I'll suggest 2: HeadBanger Legend of 1997, Su is 16 and Yui and Moa are 14. OR ljime, Dame, Zetti at the 2014 Sonisphere Metal Music Festival, their first performance outside of Asia. In 30 minutes they conquered an audience of 50, 000, 95%+ who had no idea who they were. Su is 17 and Yui and Moa are 15. Have Fun!!!
There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan, it is a very deep Foxhole.

Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance. Here is a little bit of BABYMETAL info...In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy" and in 2020 the album won the MTV Japan VMA 2020 award for BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR. BABYMETAL has been melting faces for almost TWELVE years. Su-metal, the lead singer, is currently 24 years old, while Moametal will be 23 on July 4th. Yuimetal use to be an official 3rd member, but she left due to health reasons a few years ago and now her 3rd spot is filled in by 2-3 rotating girls who only dance. Yes, the girls were very young when BABYMETAL was formed!

BABYMETAL have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65, 000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too.🤘🦊🤘

Because they're the one create their own genre 12 years ago, only that genre is called Kawaii-Metal, but Babymetal is the only group fitting this genre so far as I know

Although BABYMETAL is best live, Karate is one of the rare instances the official MV is superior as it provides a better understanding as to the song's meaning.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - as Moametal also said, it is all about moving forward which is also one of the main traits of BABYMETAL, many of their songs carry that message.

They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (they are not martial artists - the experts may not be so impressed).

BABYMETAL are Su-metal (now 24) and Moametal (she will be 23 in just a few days) - the third original member, Yuimetal who also just turned 23, sadly left the band in October 2018 having been absent from the stage for the previous 12 months. She had ongoing (and undisclosed) health issues and had not fully recovered so was still unable to perform, so she announced she would be leaving the band and hoped to follow her own long held dreams.
From the start of the 2019 tour through 2021 Su and Moa, who had chosen to continue as a duo after Yui left, were supported by three dancers (the Avengers Kano, Riho and Momoko) who took turns to dance in the third spot (no vocals). The Avenger for all of the Budokan 2021 concerts was Momoko.

BABYMETAL started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a school themed J-Pop Idol group called Sakura Gakuin. As members of that group they would sing songs and dance, the sub-units would have their own themed songs (tennis, cooking, science etc). BABYMETAL were the heavy music club.
This was the pet project of just one man, their producer Kei Kobayashi or 'Kobametal', a lifelong metalhead, based entirely around the vocal talents of Suzuka Nakamoto or Su-metal the lead singer. He had seen her a year or two before singing with her previous J-Pop trio and was so impressed that he saw her potential to front a metal/pop fusion band. He had his chance to work with her when Sakura Gakuin was formed and he started the Heavy Music Club with Suzuka as lead vocals and, thinking he might also add another thing not usually seen in metal - choreographed dance, he added her two young friends (also very talented performers) Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi supporting her as "scream and dance" - more accurately backing vocals and in charge of hyping the audience with their choreo and leading chants etc (autohmae's comment explains their role, which is so important in making BABYMETAL what they are and part of what makes them unique).

The heavy music club, unlike the more commercially viable sub-units, had to be self-funding (they even borrowed clothes to make their costumes for their first shows with the Idol group - the other sub-units had theirs paid for) as no agency in Japan in 2010 would have invested in metal as there was virtually no market for it at that time, but under the umbrella of the Idol group there was no risk to them if it didn't take off or just failed.
So they sang their songs and danced to a backing track with pre-recorded instrumentals and, against everybody's expectations, BABYMETAL started to gain their own small following.

In 2013 Su would be 15 and would graduate from the Idol group (having the school theme it was for girls aged 10 to 15), but it was decided that BABYMETAL should be her (also Yui's and Moa's) vehicle as they furthered their careers as vocalists and dancers and should separate from the Idol group to go with Su as an independent band in their own right.
In anticipation of the separation a little more budget was made available. They started to play their own solo shows starting off in warehouses and tiny venues with a capacity of 150-250 people and they played the food hall at a metal festival. The live band (the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians - all male) was also introduced and phased in gradually from October 2012 playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in a few shows. They became the full time backing band early in 2014.
Since then BABYMETAL have been kicking open the doors for Japanese bands (including those you mentioned) to international tours and recognition which they wouldn't have managed (or maybe wouldn't have even thought to try) had BABYMETAL not shown what was possible even when singing almost exclusively in Japanese.

If you see musicians in a video wearing skeleton suits they were not a real band and were miming the instruments to a backing track - they were called 'Babybones' and were there for show in the early days (no pretence was made otherwise, everybody knew what they were doing). The Kami Band are the ones in traditional white burial robes and white corpse face paint (more recently in black robes and since 2019 wearing masks - as they were in this video)

In December 2013 Su-metal turned 16 and at the show celebrating her birthday (Legend 1997) the final step was taken in the transformation of BABYMETAL from sub-unit of the Idol group to independent band and the Kami Band became their full time support in all live shows early in 2014. They have been with them ever since.
For the 2019 and 2020 US and European tours the Kami Band of the west (American musicians from Galactic Empire on guitars and bass, Anthony Barone once of Shadow of Intent on drums) were introduced.

BABYMETAL have gone on to become one of the very best live bands on the planet (and have won international awards to prove that is not just my opinion). Their big arena shows are spectacular, but they put on great shows every time, even in smaller venues and festivals as they tour the world where they can't always have all the special effects and flames etc too.

Their official videos (or most of them) do tend to get blocked, which is a shame as they are all worth seeing .... but don't worry, BABYMETAL are first and foremost a live performance act, live is where they are at their very best. It is also where you will hear them being supported by the Kami Band, their live support band and some of the absolute best session musicians to be found in Japan - they are not involved in the studio recordings (with just one known exception of one of the guitarists who we know has recorded guitar and bass on some songs).
