I started tying dries in this style back in 1983, we used turkey flats back then for the wing! They really work well on the flatter water, I still like the light Blue Wing Olive in size 20-22 in this style for the real picky trout of late summer and early fall! CDC is a much better wing material for these! Its one of the few patterns that I will take the time to tie, mostly like fly patterns that I can tie in under 5 min, 3 min being better! I always keep a dozen of these in my box- they work when nothing else will!
