wife just bought our first rod & reel ever...we went out to local lake on the left coast here and 20min later, some little dude showed up w his mom n promptly handed me my ass in the casting department...hahaha. he eventually took pity on us and let us know about swivels AND one of his rubber grub lures. pretty cool kid! i'm getting info for when we eventually catch something, appreciated the video!

The amount of blood that spurts out after this cut is surprising. I taught my neighbor this method and even after warning him to do it while it’s deep in the cooler, I had to wash down my sun platform and swim race . Btw until you have eaten a fish bled out, you would never know the impact

I usually just cut the gill with the scissor and let it bleed. Your method seems better, I will try it out next time around :) indeed the fish taste so much better if it's bleed

I bought scissors to do this and all my firends laughed at me saying useing a knife was better. I figured cutting quickly while they were breathing would keep their heart pumping it out and make for an easier and safer cut for me if they are flopping around

Yo bro, that’s best thing to do Right after the catch ! On some delicate fish like salmons, I saw a Japanese brother not only cut the Gills, bot get the cut to end of the tail Through spine then he put the long wire type of the steel into the spine and get the spine Real clean and emptied it out, then put it on ice, like You said it Brother, bleeding the fish makes Alot of difference, Good luck !! This is better than stunning a fish. All it feels is a pinch and then slowly fades away as opposed to somebody caving its head in first, then clipping it while its half dead and worried sick. Great video! Also a live animal drains better than a stunned animal.
