I am extrodinarily blessed that 90% of my teachers have been stellar. From Mr. Morris in 9th grade who made history comic books, to Mrs. Martin who had us sit down to tea to read Emily Dickinson. One of my favorite teachers was Mr. Coles, a math teacher who also did AP World History. He was so excited about the topics we covered, particularly once we got to the invention/discovery of calculus, and strove to make us into better students and more thoughtful people. We did re-enactments of famous trials, or put historical figures on trial to assess the mindset of that time period. He made extreme preparations for the class, but once class started, the students did the learning.

The best educator I had, 30 y. ago, was my "natural science" teacher, Mr Pacchioni, Dunkirk, France, who was passionate and able to connect chemistry and physics with what makes a big part of what's around (the quartz and feldspath in the beach sand, how the photons are able to make starch in a plant...)

A few years ago I had a biology teacher who was really not that good at teaching in the classroom but she did lots of experiments with us. Once she went to the university with us and there we could dissect a cat brain and extract tomato DNA. That was amazing.

Ravens are amazing, and I look forward to meeting him! I have a question, Jessi - You say you have to do, I think, 12 educational shows per year. Is this so that you can have/keep you license for keeping the animals? Thank you as ever, Peter for coming up with another cool video about education. I am loving the diversity.

As to educators, I hold up Mr Lee, who taught me in junior school (10-11years old). He told me I could write, that I had a flair for English and gave me faith in myself when I was in a very bad place. He was an amazing man with a passion for literature which introduced me to Tolkien and Jack London and more and he will forever have my gratitude.
