Street Photography | London A-Z | Brutal Barbican

Welcome to the second episode of London A-Z, in which I visit a different part of London based on it's name. This week it's the letter B and that can only mean Barbican!! This place is an absolute must visit for any street/urban photographer as it's brutalist design leads to so many opportunities to shoot the lines, shapes and patterns and light and shade that this style of achitecture gives. Again I have decided to record this as a point of view video, so you will see what I saw on the day and hear some of my thoughts on the images as I frame them up.

I hope that you enjoy the video!

I agree, keep light minimal, not taking up half the frame

Oh yes, that’s a special place photography wise. People would be good but for me the whole architectural approach is preference, emphasising on the light and shapes etc etc. This should be a project. Anyway C….erm…. Chelsea! All the best. Nice work again Gary 👍👍

Great video! What a location that is. A Photographers paradise and the ultimate playground. Think I need to look more at light and shadow in street photography. I like what I'm getting when I go out but think I might need to look closer, some of these images are pure class. Great job👍

I have a bunch of work coming up in London, so I'll make time for a long overdue visit to the Barbican area. Fabulous work as usual and great video. Thanks Gary.

Great work Gary. This used to be my work area back in the 70’s, Holborn Viaduct and the market and spent my lunch hours wondering about here. It has changed a lot since those days. Yes sunny days would have given more long shadows but you got some lovely images regardless. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Gary. Walked past there many times from the train station to one office or other but never with the camera. Added to the list (need to live to about 3000) for next time I’m there 👏👏

Loving the potential of this series... being a Londoner in exile in Brum excited to see where you go. Loved the Barbican shots, spent some time there too... Great at dusk and dawn and would recommend a blue sky day too.

You off to Camden, gotta be more interesting than Croyden or Chelsea, or Clapham? But what about China Town and Covent Garden

Glad it's not just me that finds themselves saying wow out loud when a composition comes together...
