At Summerslam, feuds culminated & cross-pollinated with *Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk* with *Seth Rollins* as guest referee.

*Seth Rollins* once looked up to CM Punk as a mentor. This is a view that faded as CM Punk left WWE in early 2014.
Once a part of CM Punk's Shield, "The Architect" Seth goes on to be a pivotal player in WWE during CM Punk's long absence.
It is exampled in the revival of the World Heavyweight Championship won by Seth at May 2023's Night of Champions.
Due to The Bloodline's Roman Reigns (Seth's former partner in The Shield) locking up both the WWE Championship AND WWE Universal Championship together as the Undisputed WWE Championship with infrequent defenses, a new title was needed so each brand can have a working championship again. Roman's nemesis Seth was the perfect one to be the inaugural champion.
Seth aiding "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes in taking down Roman Reigns & The Bloodline at April 2024's WrestleMania XL is how he lost his nearly year-long reign to persistent challenger "The Scottish Warrior" Drew McIntyre.
Long absences caused by his MVP performance at WrestleMania & later a Tsunami-deluging monster finally refocus Seth on ridding the WWE of the cancer known as CM Punk once & for all. He's gonna do what he should have done from day one.
The moment CM Punk walked back into the WWE at November 2023's Survivor Series is the moment he should have ended him.
The student aims to surpass his teacher.

*Drew McIntyre* is another one who rose up in WWE in CM Punk's nearly10 year long absence.
His road was much rockier than Seth's with him being released in 2014, then returning with a vengeance in 2017 starting in NXT & soon moving back into the main roster to become one of the breakout attractions during the Pandemic Era.
But the bittersweet nature of the COVID-19 Pandemic left Drew with no fans in attendance as he, the 2020 Royal Rumble winner, became WWE Champion over none other than "The Beast Incarnate" Brock Lesnar at April 2020's WrestleMania 36.
He spent years trying to put the puzzle pieces back together to get that WrestleMania rush again but with fans to see him.
But Roman Reigns & The Bloodline locking up both the WWE Championship & WWE Universal Championship eventually together as the Undisputed WWE Championship made this nearly impossible to achieve.
An opening came through with the 2023 revival of the World Heavyweight Championship.
His only obstacle then would be its inaugural champion Seth "Freakin'" Rollins, "The Architect", "The Messiah", "The Visionary".

But as Drew chased Seth for the title, CM Punk suddenly reappeared at November 2023's Survivor Series: War Games.
Both McIntyre & Rollins were on opposite sides in this War Games match of Team Judgment Day vs. Team Cody but both detested the return of the controversy maker fresh from AEW, CM Punk. Drew even left the building upon seeing his return!
Drew inadvertently started a blood feud at January 2024's Royal Rumble injuring CM Punk in the Rumble which forced CM Punk to miss ring time at the upcoming & historic WrestleMania XL.
Drew even said he 'prayed about it & it happened' in regard to CM Punk's misfortune!
As Drew, the 2024 Elimination Chamber winner, finally gets his WrestleMania moment at Seth's expense, CM Punk ruins his moment from ringside allowing Señor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest, to cash-in giving Drew a 5-minute reign as Champion.
The blood feud raged on throughout 2024 in a series of screwjobs, beatdowns, & dramas about fan-made charm bracelets culminating in a brutal bloody Hell in a Cell match at October 2024's Bad Blood where Drew lost to Punk.
Taking a sabbatical to reassess priorities of family vs. career, Drew returns no longer to change the past but to change the present & thus the future. He takes on the reforging Bloodline of Roman Reigns (recently aided by CM Punk no less) to prevent another long reign of terror over the WWE. Drew & Seth have common enemies in Roman but not common friends & not common goals.

*CM Punk* the rebellious "Voice of the Voiceless" was WWE's renegade in a PG-rated era ruled by John Cena.
Having the gall & the balls to openly call out WWE management from HHH & Stephanie McMahon to Vince McMahon himself, the outspoken CM Punk made himself legendary as he challenged the system & status quo in professional wrestling.
But after an over year-long reign as WWE Champion & controversy with his successor The Rock, CM Punk grew a distaste for the business. And he eventually walked out of the WWE in 2014 & vowed that he was retired from wrestling.
Bitterness towards the WWE remained with him in his absence but the wrestling bug wouldn't leave him alone & he participated in various independent promotions as well as brief 2019/2020 appearances on WWE programming by way of Fox Sports.
Eventually CM Punk came out of retirement to join the new WWE rival All Elite Wrestling or AEW in 2021.
But CM Punk's outspoken nature began to rub AEW management the wrong way just as it had done in WWE years before.
Injuries, suspensions, & backstage fights led to Punk's exit from AEW by August 2023.
But CM Punk still wanted to wrestle & his former home WWE had made drastic changes onstage & offstage by 2022.
Who says you can't go home again? And that's what he did surprising everyone at November 2023's Survivor Series: War Games.
The eternal Vince is no longer in charge. The WWE is now run by his idiotic daughter & his doofus son-in-law.
And it turns out that's just the way CM Punk likes it. There was no more bitterness. Now it's all peace & love.
Overshadowing the return of Randy Orton at the event, Punk ALSO overshadowed his former protégé Seth Rollins as well as a severely disapproving Drew McIntyre. Seth & Drew put major time in bolstering WWE in Punk's absence.
They're not gonna stand back & let CM Punk's inevitable drama ruin all of their hard work.

CM Punk stumbled into a year-long blood feud with Drew McIntyre over a WrestleMania-cancelling injury, prayer, ill-fated Money in the Bank cash-in shenanigans, hometown screwjobs, brutal assaults, & a fan-made charm bracelet all leading to blood-soaked barbarity in Hell in a Cell at October 2024's aptly titled Bad Blood. CM Punk won the blood feud over Drew, by the way.
The impact of that brutal match took a toll on sabbatical-bound Punk who told the fans he doesn't know what the future holds.
But ladies & gentlemen, an old friend named Paul Heyman called in a favor & CM Punk returns as the 5th man in Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline team at November 2024's Survivor Series: War Games. CM Punk asked Paul for a favor in return.
A year since his WWE return & CM Punk is as beloved as ever winning with his former Shield protector, Roman Reigns.
But he's not so beloved by his other former Shield protector, Seth Rollins, who refused to be the 5th man in that fight.
Seth lost everything at WrestleMania XL to take down the Roman Empire & here is Punk helping Roman resurrect it.
Punk gained clarity after War Games & now knows what the future holds pointing to an invisible WrestleMania sign at the arena.
But Seth gained clarity too dedicating himself to ridding WWE of this disruptive menace called CM Punk.
Drew McIntyre moved on from grudges of the past to focus on the present & the future by taking down Roman's Bloodline.
Seth will not move on quite so easily by taking down his former mentor. CM Punk will not ruin all of his hard work.
As WWE moves into the exciting Netflix deal in 2025, CM Punk may have more than Seth to worry about.
The Rock will be back again, John Cena's starting his retirement tour, & Roman will try to regain his Ula Fala as Tribal Chief.
How do you finally main event WrestleMania with all of that commotion going on?
How will things ultimately play out for the "Best in the World"? The renegade of the WWE will certainly find a way.
