LOCH FASKALLY WALK | Pitlochry, Scotland | Painting Scottish Heather in Watercolour | Ep42

Hello & welcome along on this walk! If you're new here - my name is Sarah and each week I head out on a walk with my faithful companion Jack Spaniels, to explore somewhere in this beautiful country of Scotland and hopefully find something to paint back in my studio at home.

Today we are back in beautiful Perthshire again! There was a big storm a few days before, but some of the autumnal leaves were hanging on and it was set to be a beautiful afternoon, so we set off to walk around Loch Faskally.

This is a man-made loch - created when the fast flowing River Tummel was dammed to produce hydro-electric power in the 1950s. We take in the awe-inspiring dam and the peaceful loch that was created in the process, before ending our walk at a cosy Scottish pub with a roaring fire. Perfect!

I was surprised to find a tuft of ling heather growing in the woodlands, with the loch in the background. I wanted to paint another sprig to go with the bell heather I did earlier in the year. This was the perfect example, with the flowers catching the late afternoon autumn light. See how I got on with this deceptively simple painting at the end of the video.

If you enjoyed this video and you haven't already, please do hit subscribe and check out my other videos - including the three special Skye episodes, where we explore some incredible Scottish scenery. Join me again next week as we explore somewhere else in Scotland and look for painting inspiration...

Sarah, since starting your channel you and Willie have never made a boring or uninteresting video of those walks you undertake with Jack Spaniels as a trusted companion what more could we viewers ask for. This video, five stars!!

I think everyone talks about the weather wherever you live. I never get tired of seeing all the different types of mushrooms. They are so cool looking. I love the Heather flower painting.🍄🌸

"Let's get out of here before any more mushrooms get massacred!" 😆 Jack seems genuinely confused when you stop to take pictures sometimes. It's like he's trying desperately to find the thing that you seem so interested in. No squirrels here, not even a frog...what is it she keeps looking at??! It's amazing that you ever get the beautiful photos you have with all that "help". 😉 The walk was so beautiful, really just stunning. I really enjoyed the café and pub. They both look so cozy. Your painting is beautiful. Thanks for showing us the difference between the two types of heather. I love all your commentary, I learn so much. I also enjoy hearing about the weather. You're taking us along on your walk and getting all of our senses involved so it only makes sense that we need to know what type of weather we're experiencing. It brings it all to life. Thank you so much for all your hard work. And, as usual, Willie did a phenomenal job with the drone footage. It was another wonderful and enjoyable video. Thank you! 😊

Yet another lovely walk Sarah. The sounds and colours magical and never feel you have to not mention the weather so much, it is as much part of the experience as the location. I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog happier than Jack, maybe he could have his own channel ! Breathtaking drone footage, thanks Willie and gorgeous painting.😊

Talking about weather is fine, it is nice to know there is some in the world. Where I live you have two, hot or cold. If you blink you miss Autumn and Spring😊
