In recent years the classic Arion Sch-1 chorus from the mid 80s has been reissued as the Arion Sch-Z. But does this reissue sound the same as an original Arion Sch-1?

here is my trick to use sch1. if you want a little ‘thicker’ or more bass, use the out 2(of course, stereo mode). out 1 is more ‘mid’ or ‘focus’. i check the frequencies with eq diagram in logic. the out 2 seems shift the whole frequence more ‘wide’. hope this helps. great video!

SCHZ is my pick. I like the bass boost, for my style it would work better. Both are great . Great video.

Thanks for the comparison. Slightly different to my ears. I have another Arion Stereo Chorus with a beige battery cover that was made in Sri Lanka. I like how it sounds.

I think the reissue sounds way too thick and bassy. It would be awkward to make it work in a mix unlike the original.

However, just playing alone, other than turning that tone knob way down, that thickness seems desirable.

Excellent vid - thank you Jason!

All the best to you and the fam over the holiday season. 🎸🎄

I though I am crazy for preferring the Z, since the SCH-1 is asking too much money these days.
I intend to use it on bass, which I think the Z is better for the purpose?
I am looking at these since Pino Palladino uses an SCH-1 on his session works with Paul Young.
