My mother in law had my sister in law at a learning hospital. They absolutely humiliated her. It was all men, they never asked permission to do anything back in the day they just whipped back the covers and showed her nakedness to everyone. She’s super protective of all of us now. Even though it’s almost 50 years later (I married the baby of the family) and so much has changed.

I had 2 student nurses when i gave birth to my daughter, they asked me if they could be there first. the looks on their faces as the baby was coming out was the perfect distraction I needed. It was hilarious.

For my second birth experience, I was examined by a well-known GYN specialist - having been told by 2 acquaintances that their procedures were painful and that he yelled at them for crying. He performed the only internal exam I have ever had that was painful.
As soon as he left the room I told my husband, "If that man comes near me again I will kick him in the teeth. I have been examined by GPs, OB-GYNs, nurses, residents, and interns, and it has never, ever hurt until him. I will give birth in a broom closet with a janitor attending rather than allow him to touch me."
My husband just said, "You got it!" I added, "The man is a sadist, " before I realized that the intern was still standing there with his mouth hanging open. I hope it was educational for him, there is no reason for a routine vaginal exam to be painful.

Omg "you guys will already have your hands full with one baby"

“Have a baby” is also my birth plan this go around. I had a failed induction with my first and it was such an awful experience that this time I just want her to arrive safely and without me screaming at everyone I know.

Have had five kids. When asked about my birth plan while pregnant with my last, I said "make it to the hospital before the baby comes". As someone who has failed to make it out the front door twice before baby was born, I kept my plans simple.
Number five was born at the hospital.

My list got much longer with the second baby 😆.
I gave birth at a teaching hospital too, my friend had her baby a few months before I did at that same hospital, she was checked sooo Many times down there and the student that broke her water hooked the baby's skull. She needed 2 stitches. After I heard that, I came to my OB and said NO ONE IS TOUCHING ME BUT YOU! He said he doesn't work with students. I was so relieved. My OB would show up for all of his patients to deliver babies, no matter time of day (unless he had a family emergency or a pre planned holiday).
When I was in labor I was offered to have a resident break my water, i told them no way, no one will touch me.

I had two med students at my first. They were super sweet and did a great job, even came and checked up on me the next day ❤

this would be my first baby if this pregnancy go smoothly after years of infertility and miscarriages so.. I dont have delivery plan but I just prayed to deliver the baby healthy... fingers crossed. Hope this would be my rainbow baby

Back in the 70’s the mirror saved my sister. They had set it up and were busy with other things when my mom looked up and saw my sister coming. The doctor got in position just in time to catch her. She has always been the active in the go child. And to be fair mom did most of her labor at home and just came to the hospital towards the end with both of us.

I hope you get an operator on your third baby good luck 🤞

The same thing happened to me with my first and second. I had birth plan didn’t want epidural with first, 2nd one wanted it but baby came too fast to have it. Didn’t even attempt #3.

Haha I always tell the nurse - “ummm my only birth plan is don’t die. That’s it.”

i was born in a learning hospital- my mom still hokes about the fact that throughout my birth there were anywhere from 15-30 different students going in and of the room working on different things at all times

If I’m pushing a human out of me the last thing I want is some kid learning how to do this for the first time and practicing on me
mackenziereasor
My third birth plan was I am leaving the hospital as soon as humanly possible. Yes I have big babies, no I don't have diabetes and no I don't want my child monitored for blood sugars after they've already passed tests. I want to go home. My midwives ushered the paediatrician into my room and badically said "She's going home - nothing you say can change that".
mamavibetribe
I so get the student nurse thing. I looked at my doctor and said I swear if a nursing student comes in I will lose it. I’m all for teaching but while giving birth I didn’t want to feel like some spectacle.
