It appears that Federer and Nadal are evenly matched in the goat debate. But this is only an illusion. In this video you will see why Federer is greater than Nadal.

It was very heartwarming to see Goatkovic defending Roger. As a Federer fan who agrees that Novak is the GOAT, thank you for this video.

Being the GOAT of clay isn’t enough to be the GOAT of tennis. Especially when you deliberately dodge non-clay tournaments to avoid taking L’s on your H2H and tournament record.

Another good argument is that Federer's 6>0 atp finals titles lead and 310>209 weeks at number 1 lead is more significant than Nadal's 22>20 lead in Grand Slam titles and 36>28 lead in masters titles.

The difference in these stats are 6atp finals and 101 weeks at number 1 for Federer, and 2 slam titles and 8 masters titles for Nadal.
Think about the number of players in history who have 6atp finals and/or 101 weeks at number 1, there's only 1, Novak Djokovic.

Then think about the number of players in history who have 2 slams and 8 masters, there are plenty, Sampras, Agassi, Murray even and many more.

To have a 6 atp finals lead and 101 weeks at number 1 lead is more significant than 2 slams and 8 masters lead. That is a fact

This man single handedly settled the entire goat debate in two videos. I’ve spent the better part of 4 years telling everyone all of these arguments, and now they are all compiled in a single video. I just finished a stats course, and I see that many of the things I learned can be applied here. Looks like you were 10 steps ahead of me 😂😂

Nadal always fudged his numbers by taking months off tours and skipping tournaments to come back and play solid for 3 -4 months...
... and then rinse-repeat.
Federer had no such advantage. Federer played 64 grand slams on the trott without skipping even one and he had the disadvantage of facing Nadal without taking months off tour and even when he wasnt in top form.

Also, let's not forget that there are three Masters 1000 events on clay and none on grass! Otherwise, Roger would have had even more big titles, a better h2h ratio, and probably more weeks at no.1. Great video!

This videos clearly show why djokovic is not even in the goat Race, infact he is on a whole new level!

Federer and Djokovic had their own era. Nadal was always playing second fiddle to them.

Nadal intentionally skipped many hardcourt tournaments to avoid losing to Novak and Federer. It's indisputable. How else can you explain pulling out of 17 tournaments due to injury, with only 1 being on clay prior to 2023. He hasn't beaten Federer on hardcourt in ten years and haven't won a set off Djokovic since 2013 as well.

Actually Nadal did not defend ANY title outside clay till 2019, when he won the Canadian Open in 2018 and 2019. That event was usually skipped by Novak and Roger in the last few years. Rafa did not face either Novak or Roger while defending his only Title outside clay.

I always laugh how most of Nadal's matches vs Djokovic and Fed are on clay... and then you look at why, and it's because he goes out too early in so many hard and grass tournaments, so never makes it far enough to play either of them.

I have nothing to add but to praise Goatkovic again for the perfection that this channel is.

Rewatching and just realized that roddick who never won Wimbledon has a better grass court win rate than Nadal who won Wimbledon twice

I have been waiting for these numbers for so long - which Fed was mistakenly put behind Nadal due to his matches against Novak.
Thank you for the great Video @goatkovic - very fair points / analysis.

Federer Was The Man In 2000s.
Djokovic Was The Man In 2010s.
Nadal Was Always A Second Fiddle To Them.

Good video. For me the ATP finals is the greatest test of a player. All of the matches are against the worlds best. A player can win a grand slam by playing one or two people in the top ten the whole tournament. This is where guys like Joker, Federer, and McEnroe proved their greatness year in and year out.

To be honest, calling Nadal "one trick pony" is a bit unfair. He won 8 non clay slams which is more than most tennis legends have won overall. But only in the context of comparing these three it makes some sense.

Not only that he is not a made a final of a wimbledon since 12 years and itself shows he is just a one surface player whereas roger and novak have always made into the semi finals and finals of french open consistently and due to which nadal has a better H2H record against them in grand slams.

Another argument against Nadal is that in 6 month (1/2 year!) period between US open and IW he stacked – wait for it – *1* * big title. Meanwhile Federer amassed *15* and Djoković dizzying *26* (10 AO, 6 ATPFin, 4 Shang, 6 Paris) big titles!
Yes, Nadal *1* * and Fed/Nole *41* big titles combined in winter part of the year.
Which further explains that Nadal is basically absent (always injured, "injured", tired, "tired"... you name it) for a complete half of the year just to prepare for 10-week string of clay building his case of greatness as he perceives.

Djokovic has this ability of stringing victories against an opponent. Witness the series of 7 consecutive victories over Nadal between 2011-12, which he repeated again between 2015-16. These days, if he has a deep run in the slams, he makes it count more often than not.
