I miss the older models that had a oil canister as its filter. It was so easy to change the oil on my 2001 Camry. The car didn't even have to be on a bridge. I could crawl a bit under the front to get the drain plug off, and the oil filter was accessible from the top! That's right. Pop the hood and the filter is right there. Old one screw off and new one screw on. I have done this countless times and I ain't no mechanic. On my current Camry, it's too much of a headache as this video shows so I am going to the workshop to have it done. Fortunately the intervals are now 10K miles. But why they had to make it so difficult is beyond me.

People complaining this is hard don't realize you can just let a shop do it or stop being cheap and just buy the tool. This is small sacrifice to have a reliable vehicle.

What is the tool you used with the notches to remove the entire filter housing?

Solvent? Would that be the same as brake cleaner?

That should be 14 millimeter. And I thought that was 10 ft pound
