You didn't show us how to fix the empty folders problem. All you did was show us how to connect the phone to the computer. I'm trying to figure out why all my folders are empty. My note 9 doesn't ask me to allow access, it just showed up, I can see all the folders, but all the folders are empty.

For those of you who don't have the "Allow access to phone data" prompt come up like in my case, here is what I did to fix the problem. I went into Settings -> Connections -> and then checked the "Phone visibility" option. This granted my computer access to my phone's files.

This videos should actually have more thumbs up instead of thumbs down, because the majority of silly tutorials are either promoting KIES or some other kind of software instead of plain old File Explorer!

Thank you so much.
My phone was set to "No Date Transfer". All fixed now thanks to your video.

To anyone wondering why the folders show up after doing this but still say empty, if you have another USB cable(s) try them out because its possible the one you are using is only able to charge. I tried for nearly an hour using my cord for charging my headphones since it charges my phone faster before trying my old USB cable and it just so happened to work! I thought I'd share.

Don't know why this video has so many down votes??? It was very clear to me, any way, thanks!

Thanks, got it fixed for me. All I needed to do is to tap "Allow" on my phone and the folder showed up. I know this sounds dumb but I never had to do this before, my phone would just always connect right away and i'd see the folders automatically. But recently I've been having some problems with the phone, namely it turns off / reboots by itself, sometimes I can't turn it back on again for hours. It also has problems charging. The problem with the folder is def connected to all that.

This used to work perfectly on my note 8 but ever since I upgraded to windows 10 all files show as empty. I've went into my sd car then the music folder and it's saying it's empty. The connection is for transfer files and I do have the latest drivers.

I had a similar problem: All folders containing more than 1000 archives (app) showed like empty folders. But Folders containing less than 1000 archives, it took time charging, but finally showed the archives. So, what I did with big folders was creating minifolders that partionate the original folder. For example, if I a had a 5000 archives folder, I created 5 folders with 1000 archives each (you have to manage your archives and folders from your smartphone because you cant see them from your pc). At least it worked for me, hope it helps.

My fix was to disconnect the USB cable, restart my phone and reconnect - voila! All the phone's folders displayed.

My S8 doesn't have the allow pop up or transfer files popup or when i swipe down from the top it's doesn't have that info either. I've transfered before with no problem and now everything has disappeared.

I uninstalled the drivers for the phone, restarted the PC, plugged the phone back in and it worked no problem. Might help some.

Hello, im hoping you can help me out with my situation. I trying to access my s9 storage using my surface pro 7.. I am getting "files empty" when connecting via USB, I am unable to use your tips due to having a black screen. Is there a "work around" for my issue? I appreciate any feedback you may have.. Thx@!

My screen was busted! I calculated where the "ALLOW" button could be ... AND VOILA! It would only show the phone model in Windows File Explorer before!
