McCartney spoke about recording Hey Jude in which drums don't come in until the 50 second mark. When they started Ringo was in the bathroom and Paul was wondering if he would make it on time. Sure enough, he sat down and jumped in, right on cue. So even when he wasn't ready, he was ready, just like he said.
