In this week’s episode of Tips & Tricks, DJcityTV’s Chris “Mojaxx” Brackley looks at Pioneer DJ’s new XDJ-700 player. The XDJ-700 is basically a more affordable and compact version of the XDJ-1000, Pioneer’s first player without a CD drive.

for someone wanting Pioneer hardware running Rekordbox in standalone or controller mode, the Pioneer XDJ-700 with its good set of features, detailed touchscreen and overall compact size, this model is great value for money. Thanks again for the video Mojaxx.

I love my xdj700s! I mean, sure, they don't have every single thing that the regular size does, but they're sufficient. I love them because they're a great price considering how much quality CDJs usually are. I wanted to switch from controller to CDJs because I was ready to take that next step, and these definitely did the trick.

Brilliant review
Love my xdj 1000's
If these are anything like then people will not be disappointed. Loved my 350's as well and these seem
A similar size.

Those external power supply, most of them, will make your pro audio amp humming - and you will also get static noise on primary channel - if they are plugged in an outlet that is on the same electrical line. Be aware of this!

i want to replace my old cdj-1000mk3s. would you rather recommend the xdj-700s or the xdj-1000s if i want to use them primarily at home, or at small private scale parties?

Hi, I have a problem with the sound in my Xone DB2 and 2x XDJ 700 set. The set can play really great, then I hear every detail, the bass is clear and I mix tracks without any problems. From time to time a problem occurs and the sound ceases to be so clear, then it is difficult to distinguish the bands by ear and mix the tracks well. I suspected a mixer, but it just came back from the service inspection and it's fine. Monitors are ok too because I've tried different ones. Is it possible for the xdj 700 to have such moods?

When I press Memory after I set a cue point, it flashes 'Memory' in red, with a USB logo — but when I return to the track later, the cur point is not there.

Do you have to return the USB to the computer to actually WRITE the cue points to memory in Rekordbox? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hi, i'm just about to purchase some pioneer xdj700's. I've been hearing that serato dj will not work with these decks which has confused me. Surely if I use my rane sl2, I will be able to dj using these decks with the time code on a usb? Can you confirm this for me please?

I’ve just started out, been using a Numark NVII controller to play about on, incredible piece of kit however looking to learn how to properly beat match and try not rely on software to do the job, want to start playing on CDJ’s, I understand the set up of these, are they still worth buying?

Good work as ever Chris honest and to the point.

Loved the look and portability factor of these when I first saw them. Decent sized screen on them and link thought they looked like a bargain. The HID is rather disappointing, pioneer obviously will be in no rush to support Traktor and Serato given the release of Rekordbox. There is a hole in the market for some jog controllers for the new NI's S8 and S5 and decent ones with HID and usb backup would suit many. Makes the XDJ-100's look even more like a bargain.

Missing beatjump :( I guess they had to cut back somewhere. Crazy when you think it has been in Traktor since almost forever and so useful for navigation at times.

The XDJ-RX I think is quite suitable for mobile jocks wanting a non laptop solution. A bit bulky, but still looks the biz and does what it says on the tin. If they ever bring out a 4 channels version it will sell like hot cakes, but then again that would hit sales of top end CDJ's which is probably why we have not seen it yet.

I've been watching your video for some time and enjoy how you thoughly review a product. I saw these used at an event and was impressed. I have an entry level controller but I seeking to up my game so I can easy play out. I've played with Nexus CDJs and XDJ 1000. Great system but too much 4 a wallet at this time. I was looking at DDJ 1000 controller and now researching these CDJs. I love the fact they use USB flash drive only. It will allow my to hone in my skills as a DJ and make a transition playing the club standard equipment. I will continue looking at both and come to a decision on which one fits me.

Being almost nine years later, do you still think these a a good buy if I need a media player?

Is there any way of getting 'instant doubles' with these? Ive switched from Traktor and a controller to a hardware setup with these, but I'm missing the instant doubles feature badly
