Okay, PSA time from someone who works in injury law…. DO NOT EVER SAY YOU’RE OKAY IF YOU’VE BEEN HIT BY A CAR AS A PEDESTRIAN OR BIKE RIDER!!!! Okay, now that I have your attention, the adrenaline makes you feel like you’re okay, you’re not. You sit down, call EMS or have someone else call them, and never say you’re okay. Always get the other person’s info. I work so many cases where the person ends up not okay and we have zero info to go on bc they didn’t call police or ems, or they let the driver go and zero info on them. Please, sit and get assessed. You never know what is injured at the moment. Please do this from now on.

Hi Mr. Bare, my name is Judah. I recently broke my back while riding my mountain bike and had to get surgery (I should be paralyzed due to how severe it was). I broke two vertebrae and broke a rib. I’m in the same boat as you that the Lord was calling me to be content in every circumstance, every struggle and rely on his love and mercy. I have found SO much encouragement from your videos. Your dedication and being open to sharing the lessons you are learning everyday, is l contagious and now it makes me want to run or do hard things, not just for the enjoyment, but because I know it will grow me mentally. I’m so glad you are ok and praise God you aren’t worse off. Wish you the best of recovery.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS GO TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT even if you think you have no injuries. It is incredibly common for people to essentially drop dead post car accident / traumas because they suffer silent vascular injuries, which sometimes take about a day to rupture and show symptoms. These people will go from walking around saying "wow that was crazy that I have no major injuries" to having an aortic dissection that ruptures the next day, causing massive internal bleeding and death.

Only way to catch it is to get CT scanned.

I just bought my son a noxgear light vest. He is so much like you. Thanking God you are ok. The balance you speak of is so hard to find, I'm 55 and still struggle with how much is too much so God often slows me down and boy is it loud and clear when he does it. Praying for you and your family. Continue to be a light!

Hey man. I just wanted to reach out as this really resonated with me especially slowing down and being grateful. I’m a cyclist and was involved in a hit and run that by some miracle only left me with a broken collarbone, concussion and a few flesh wounds. I just wanted to say that by far the worst wound was the mental scar that I didn’t realise was so bad until 18 months down the line when I stopped sleeping and developed an eating disorder. I was diagnosed with PTSD and had therapy to ease it. Just take it easy dude and take whatever help you need because you’re an inspiration to so many and can influence so many others to do the same.

You’ve got a lot more to offer this world, Nick. The story wasn’t over. So glad you’re okay.

Hey man, this resonated with me as a dad with a young family and constantly striving for the next thing too…sometimes not being in the moment enough and being thankful. Also, way to keep it real and project accountability for what happened rather than just blaming the drivers 🙏 awesome to hear your health and wellbeing is in tact,

Glad you’re okay for the most part! You’re in my prayers. I’m glad to hear you give God the credit. Keep up the good work! You’ve been a big encouragement to me. I had a back surgery when I was 22. I’m 36 now. For the last 12 years I have not been able to run without pain or discomfort. But this year I slowly started trying. And that’s how I came across your channel. Now I’m running over 4 miles and no pain. I thank God almost every day for being able to recover this well and to enjoy life with good health. God is good!

Dude really glad you’re ok. Been following you for a while now man. 2019. You’ve been a massive influence on me Nick. I’m a better person and father due to following your content. My wife told me to never forget my head lamp again after seeing what you went though yesterday. God bless you Brotha!

Very happy to hear you are ok. I also was hit by a car way back on Jan. 10, 2000. It was at night and I was even running towards traffic. I didn’t see headlights when I crossed the road and bam. Luckily it was not a truck or suv, but a small sedan. I was knocked out. Woke up in the back of the ambulance for just enough time to give my info. I had no id on me. Passed out again and woke up in emergency with my wife holding my son. Was in the hospital for a week and intensive care for a few days. Had a concussion. four broken ribs in the back that punctured a lung. Even the police officer said he never saw anyone get hit out of their shoes and live. Of course they said they were going the speed limit, which was thirty five. Again the police said from where I was hit, to where I landed, to where they stopped, they had to be doing at least 45mph. I was thirty five when it happened. Now I’m sixty.

What you’ve described has very similar conditions to how my runs start. I’ve been neglectful of wearing bright clothing and I never think that I will get hit. This video really just flipped a switch and will help me to be more careful while I’m running. Thanks for the help and glad that you’re alright, Nick.

I lost my good friend, Ben carpenter from KY. On Dec. 15th, 2023. He was a marine & would run every morning 6-10 miles a day. Hit & run driver killed him. He is a Christian & is home now.

Glad you’re ok Nick! Im glad you mentioned that you should have just driven to the safe route. I live in a big city and every weekend I drive 20 minutes to a running park/track to run on a safe route. It’s worth it.

I have been over weight my entire life and a coworker talked me into running a half marathon trail race back in July. I started training for it and really enjoyed trail running. I found your content and its been a huge insperation for me to continue to live a healthier lifstyle. I've lost 28lbs and have done several races now, including a spartan super and a death by 5k 24 hour race. I've really enjoyed using your products to fuel my new lifestyle. Thank you for the insperational content you create glad to here you're okay!

As a parent, runner and cyclist I’m grateful for your honesty and key reminders, wear the light vest even if it chafes, drive the extra miles to run a safer route. In the Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park area there are dozens or runner/biking only trails to take advantage of even if that means more planning and travel to those places. Those are so important so we can continue to give our littles baths every night. Glad you’re safe!
