Rockström is a scientist on global sustainability issues researching planetary boundaries and the social/economic implications. We live in the Anthropocene, the era of humans, characterised by the interrelated crisis currently occuring. The IPCC is clear, we need to both reduce our use of fossil fuels and protect 30-50% of Eath's land in order to maintain biodiversity. We see signs of our earth reaching tippingpoints, it is worrying that the IPCC scenario's do not take these into account. Humanity depends on us staying within 9 planetary boundaries, we are currently overshooting 6 of 9 of these limits.
