Have you ever heard of a death mask? Throughout history, death masks were created to capture the true features of a deceased individual’s face. In this way, the memory of nobles, royals, and eminent individuals would live on forever. Sometimes these masks were left unpainted, as you will see with the majority of the masks in this video, but other times masks were painted such as the death mask of Mary, Queen of Scots. Regardless, death masks are fascinating reminders of the people who came before us.
