Great video, Ibn Taymiyyah's problem with philosophy is people engaging in it are not willing to submit to revelation & would reject Allah's attributes based on a corrupt model conceived by earlier Hellenistic philosophers, as if they literally believe in a "reason" logos as intermediate god that they must pass though to access God!!
And after a certain point, to not submit when evidence are clear is to lose Allah grace & to let your whims & satan whispers lead you astray.

The problem here is that "philosophy" and "rationality/rational proofs/reasoning" are being used synonymously.
Ibn Taymiyya was fundamentally opposed to philosophy as a distinct framework for deriving/establishing Islamic belief because philosophy in the lexicon of the Salaf was not a thing distinct from theo-philosophy of ancient Hellenic (and Indic and other) polytheists. Thereafter, the mutakallima/Ahl al-Kalam, who were Ibn Taymiyya's principle opponents, drew upon the same Aristotelian/Platonic [theo] philosophical framework - via kalam - to derive, contrive and arrive at their innovated credos. For Ibn Taymiyya and the Salaf, philosophy was the pursuit of heretics, apostates and atheists, while kalam was the pursuit of deviants and innovators - hence the Salaf dispraised them. Conversely, sound rationale/ reason/ logic/ common sense are praised in the religion. Even philosophy as understood in the Western school today, as an academic discipline, still has baggage which precludes it from being equated with reasonableness and rationality without serious caveats and qualification.

“the establishment and recognition of the Creator is innate
[and] necessary in the souls of all people (fiṭrī ḍarūrī fī nufūs al-nās),
even though some people have done something to corrupt their nature
such that they need an inference (naẓar) to achieve knowledge [of God].
This is the opinion of the majority of people, as well as the skilled debaters (ḥadhāq al-nuẓẓār),
that knowledge of God is sometimes achieved by necessity
[i.e. in “basic” immediate fashion] and other times by inference.”
Majmū‘ Fatāwā (1995) vol. 16, 458.

Ibn Taymiyya and Al-Ghazali are probably some of the most underappreciated figures in history...

In this passage of sharh aqidatul isfahiniyya Ibn taymiyya explicitly confirmed and explained the contingency argument:

18:05 they say in Arabic that a bedouin man sent his son to a university to be educated, and on one of his visits back home the father said to his son, proud of him for getting educated, "Tell me some of what you have learned at the university."
So the son opens his book and starts reading: "The rational proofs of Allah's existence are as follows"
At which point the bedouin father smacks him across his head and exclaims, "Do I need logical proof as to the existence of the Almighty??"

It's supposed to be a funny way to illustrate this exact point

Also, any person who has actually read the works of Ibn Taymiyyah when it comes to these issues wouldn't come to the conclusion that a lot of the people throw out there. Most of the nonsense that people throw out there in refutation of Salafis, Atheris, and Ibn Taymiyyah actually comes from a lack of them knowing what Ibn Taymiyyah actually contributed and how well-versed he was when it comes to philosophy, even philosophy that we would never hear about now.

May Allah mercy the Soul of Shiekh Al-Islam

Translation:-
Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Teymeah siad in majmoo' al-fatawa vol 11 page 490:-
( Whatever against “clear” intellect is falsehood. And by full agreement from all, there is no falsehood in Quran and Sunnah. But, there are some words which some people will not understand or they will understand from it a false meaning. So, the problem is them, Not Quran and Sunnah )
