“Hearing” and “paying attention to and understanding the words” are very different things. “Hearing” is only one component of “listening” and you can not effectively listen to a person while texting/instagramming/doing ANYTHING that takes your mind of what the other person is saying.

This is what I tell my kids: if you think you can honestly HEAR and UNDERSTAND what I’m saying while texting, you should be able to speak to me and follow the conversation while you’re texting/social media-ing. Guess what - they can’t!! If they can’t talk to me while texting me about a totally unrelated subject - how the hell do they expect me to believe they can not only LISTEN to but UNDERSTAND AND ADSORBE what I’m saying!!

The sad reality is that so many parents are doing an ENORMOUS dis-service by allowing their kids to have their faces in their stupid phones.

People appreciate undivided attention. learning how to make someone feel heard Can affirm important connections in your life. Also Twitter is basically as bad as Facebook when it comes to misinformation. So sight your sources based on who said what, and how relevant the source is, and not what social media platforms you snagged the info off of.

I see what they’re saying, but I feel like they aren’t helping the various stereotypes they’re addressing. I’m a millennial and I’ve just learned to live be with it, people actually blame the problems of the world on my generation, it’ll always be like this, as long as it’s not the category they fit in right?

I'm gen z. Our generation is by far the most dumb. But it's strange because we have way more Access to information on any topic
